Did you ever watch a video and want to do a headslap? I've been a LR user since the beginning and I learned a few things. Julieanne Kost makes it look so simple!

Photos from Scott Kelby Photo Walk 2013

Jake it started as a joke. I'm half Czech (and speak a bit) and had the opportunity in 2006 to visit the altar of beer in Plzeň. I have a few beer loving friends and sent them an anonymous email with a version of this image.

Okay, last one from the walk. This was inside the Lewis Library. Love all the colors. This was surprisingly difficult to post process. I liked the texture of the letters being the same color as the wall. The light was coming in from the right which also introduced a subtle shadow.

This is way too funny. . . I'm waiting for a conference call this morning and was playing around with a similar shot! I shot this with my Sigma 10-20.

Photos from Scott Kelby Photo Walk 2013

Love the IR shots Jake!!! I had the GPS on my D300. It recorded the location of the hammock as 40°20'49" N 74°39'15" W or along Washington Road. John captured the glee club in B&W. I loved the drama of the color of their attire:

My three favorite HDRs from yesterday. I submitted the hammock as my official entry - it is a five image bracket processed in Photomatix Pro. The brick archway was also a five image bracket that was purposely heavily processed for dramatic effect in Photomatix Pro. The memorial is a single image...

    5 Oct 2013: Scott Kelby’s 6th Annual Worldwide Photo Walk™

Had a great time meeting Cindy, John, Jake and Mark yesterday in Princeton. Weather was a nice - maybe even too hot. Here is my second favorite from the walk: I was playing around with a long lens and how you can use them to compress perspective. The statue really is not of a guy with his finger...

    Continue With Nikon?

Nikon certainly considers many DX cameras a pro-level if you use the NPS qualifications as a guideline. Sorry but I think your response is ill-informed. What?!?! Have you paid any attention to the Fuji X, Olympus OM-D, Leica M and/or the Sony NEX offerings? And as riverside pointed out many...

    Continue With Nikon?

Hopefully this isn't a rambling post but I'd like to get other perspectives. I've been a dedicated Nikon shooter in both DSLR and Mirrorless. I use both a D300 and V1. Both are getting a little dated as I look at capabilities of new bodies. I originally purchased the V1 on a whim and have...

    Photographer Light Switch Cover

My wife and I just finished redoing our kitchen so I decided to Google decorative light switch covers. That lead me to a site called Switch Hits. Being the curious person I am, I notice a section titled perverted. This is the first image I saw in that section. I think it needs to be updated for...

    Single Image Tonemapping

I imported into LR5, edited in Topaz Adjust 5 and applied the HDR Collection: Medium Pop Smooth preset, then exported with my default settings which apply a frame. I thought Topaz Adjust did a pretty nice job. Rick's Original Tone mapped Version with Frame:

Thom Hogan: The Nikon 1 Head Scratcher

There has been a lot of buzz in the various forums about Nikon's financial results including comments regarding disappointing mirrorless sales. Thom Hogan posted a very insightful analysis titled The Nikon 1 Head Scratcher. In the post Thom calls out Nikon regarding the clear lack of direction...

V2 faster AF tracking than D4?

Yes you read that title right! According to the August 2013 German language Foto Magazin, the V2 pretty much kicks every other camera's. . . butt. Interesting discussion thread here. The V2 and V1 are virtually identical in this regard. Summary of AF tracking accuracy results: 1st: Nikon 1 V2...

V1 in Washington DC & Baltimore Orioles Game

Family driving vacation to Baltimore and DC. Love traveling light with the Nikon V1 and the Think Tank Photo Mirrorless Mover 20 bag. I'm posting to demonstrate the capabilities of the CX format as a better alternative than a point and shoot.

    5 Oct 2013: Scott Kelby’s 6th Annual Worldwide Photo Walk™

It's that time again!! Scott Kelby announced the date for this year's Worldwide Photowalk. Anyone else participate? I've gone to 4 of the last 5 and enjoyed them very much. It is a great way to meet local photographers, spread the Nikonites word (I wear my hat!) and potentially learn a thing or...

automatically put aperture, iso, shutter speed in the pic file

You can use a utility software like Breeze Systems Downloader Pro to rename files while copying from your storage device to include capture info. Downloader Pro has defined file naming tokens for aperture {K2}, ISO {k} and shutter speed {K3}. If you are using Lightroom, you can use see this...
