    Affinity Kicking Adobe

Recently I shared how Affinity was offering 50% off their 3 software programs (Photo, Designer, and Publisher). Now Affinity is offering those 3 programs for a 6-month free trial.

No although Marilynne has been announcing them. And their usernames reflect their passing. But perhaps a thread can be made in the Off Topic subforum to make them easier to find. Let me ask Marilynne what she thinks.

    BikerBrent passed away in April

Thank you for sharing this. Brent was an active participant who welcomed the new members and who encouraged those who needed help. He really loved participating here on Nikonites and will be missed.

    Bikerbrent

Brent was always one of the first to welcome new members and encouraged them to introduce themselves. He let me know a while back how he missed his lovely wife and how important the forum was for him. We are all here for different reasons. His participation helped make the forum welcoming for...

No, I meant that it's a powerful program, and to be able to use it for free is really incredible.

    Software Suggestions

One thing I didn't know until recently is that Adobe Bridge is free. It uses the same tools as Lightroom and Camera RAW (no organization though like LIghtroom has). But with its editing power and the fact that it's free is surprising.

What a beautiful bird! I've never seen one and also never heard of a Stellar's Jay either. Really nice, Woody!

    Forever Photography Stamps

Here in the US, first class mail uses Forever stamps. If the price of first class postage goes up, the forever stamps can be used forever no matter how much the stamps originally cost. So in anticipation of the price increase next week, I decided to pick up a sheet. Imagine my surprise when I...

    3D Tracking

You might want to consider this electrical reset that Peter7100 shared with us a while back. I used this on my D7200 when the shutter button no longer would allow focusing. Worked like a charm! https://nikonites.com/forum/threads/re-tip-attached-lens-wont-autofocus.45078/#post-751145

Need a quick opinion on a small tripod

Here is one of Jake's posts about the MeFOTO in case you'd like to read what he wrote. When some of us Nikonites met up in Princeton for a Scott Kelby Photo Walk, Jake was using a small tripod. Whether it was this one, I don't recall. But I know he mentioned it several times...

Need a quick opinion on a small tripod

Benro is quite good with their tripods. I have an aluminum tripod by them which is nice. Their MeFOTO Roadtrip Travel tripod has been rated pretty well for a small tripod. BackdoorArts who used to be quite active here promoted it as being what he used a lot. And when Fstoppers rated full size...

    hi from thailand

Hello and welcome. I've never been to Thailand, but photos of your country show it is such a beautiful area! Although I've never owned that Nikon body, there should be some type of Auto program which will allow you to start taking photos without too much technical knowledge. The thing is once...

    Alternatives to Photoshop

I meant to include info about one of the options listed above: Photopea. At 2:39 in the video, he discusses it. It is accessed via a browser so isn't a standalone piece of software. But he said it is so close to Photoshop, he is surprised they haven't been hit by an Adobe lawsuit.

    Alternatives to Photoshop

Since Adobe is under a lot of heat for their recent terms of service (for which I believe they released another update today), there are other options to Photoshop. This video goes over some of the more popular alternatives - and also includes other Adobe software options.
