D7100 LE ISO capabilities and 3rd party lenses

Hello all, After the death of my beloved D7000 ( repair bill quote from Nikon of £577 for shutter replacement) I am thinking of getting the D7100 instead. I do a lot of night photography and the ISO limit @ f2.8 30 sec exposure was 800. Anything above this was too noisy for my liking. Will I see...

    D7000 Shutter Failure?

Hello all, After dropping my D7000 I'm pretty sure that my shutter on my D7000 has just failed. ERR is blinking on the LCD. When you take a picture with no lens attached I can see the mirror raise but the shutter does not move. Here is the last photo and now it won't take anymore...

International Space Station pass over local river

Low level pass over of the International Space Station last night at 11pm down The Gannel. Even at this time is was still quite light. It was a very still night and the wake you can see in the water was from Stand Up Paddleboarders out at that time.

Expensive pass over of the ISS

The ISS passing over a local river. 16 x 10 secs images stacked. The reason why expensive is in the title is on the walk back, I slipped on some rocks and the lens took a bashing. Goodbye Sigma 10-20mm RIP.

    Ghost Sunset

Thanks for the replies guys. @mathom33 thanks for the info will have to find that episode. You mentioned it being due to the speed of light which is pretty quick but as stated this was 30 mins after the normal sunset so before I find that programme was just wondering is this the same effect still.

    Ghost Sunset

Last night after 30 minutes of the sun setting below the horizon, another sun got projected through the clouds. It started off as a full sun and then continued to set like a normal sun. I only live 3 minutes walk from this view so tend to pop up often for the sunsets, but I have never seen...

International Space Station transits( very nearly) Jupiter11/04/14

Jupiter is the bright object nearly bang on the line of the ISS pass. It was an early pass over, hence the blue colour of the sky still.

International Space Station transits the moon 08/04/14

Took this pass over last night and in my hurry to walk down to the river I forgot my cable release. Big mistake. Didn't have time to walk back and get it, so I got shaky lines from pressing the shutter. 18 frames at 10 secs ISO 640 f/4. Moon is obviously blown out due to long exposure and a...

Extremely stiff on/off lever on Nikon D7000

Hello all, As per title my on/off lever has become really stiff to operate, to the point of only just being able to move it with excessive pressure from my thumbnail. The camera is well out of warranty so does anyone know of a fix for this problem. I am reluctant to spray any WD40...

Everyone uses a Firewall to protect their computers but how about a real one to protect your property. Only post processing was spot removal in LR to hide the details on the side of my van.

    Back Garden Iridium Flare

Hi, Caught a nice Iridium Flare in the back garden. There is a brighter one in 2 days time so might have to find somewhere with a more interesting foreground if it's clear. D7000 - f6.3, ISO 800, 47seconds

Help with crop in Lightroom 3 needed

Hello all, I have been using Lightroom 3 for a couple of years but still can't find anything to alter the way the dragging works when in the crop module. When you have resized your image and then want to move the crop rectangle the grab cursor works but in the opposite direction to the mouse...

    D7000 cable release advice needed

Hello all, I have been doing star trails successfully using the built in intravalometer using 30sec exposures with a 32sec interval times x number off shots. While this works for stacking in starstax it is too limited for stacking the shots with satellites moving across the sky. The...
