We're going on a shoot soon in the southertier area of NYS. We want to capture some waterfalls, so will be using a tripod and shooting sloer shutter speeds. I am looking for an eyepiece cover for my d3300 but have been unsucessful. Could I do it with a piece of duct tape? Has anyone made a cover...

    24 mp

Just wondering- my son sent me a photo of a woodstove in the sellers yard. Clarity and detail were very, very good and the pic was taken with a 3 mp phone camera. I have 24 mp with my 3300 and the pic he took was close to what I could do. How much MP is overkill to the human eye? Paul

    Polarizing Filters

How often do you use polarizing filters in your landscape shots. When do you use them and when do you shoot without a filter? Just ordered one and am not sure when I should use it. Paul

    cropping

Recently I set the aspect ratio to 5x7. Now, when ever I crop a photo- that aspect ratio shows up on my pic, showing the lines that would frame a 5x7 print (I'm assuming). Problem is, I can't find a way in lightroom to turn that ratio off. I've tried everything and watched tutorials but still...

    Jpeg fine

Just got back from my son's baby shower- discovered I had shot in JPEG FINE. When I put the pictures on Lightroom-downloaded and went to develop, it said file not found (though the photo was on the screen) and I was not able to do any post processing at all (even crop). Is there anything I can...

    Prints from Walmart

I have been sending my photos to Wally after my post processing which includes cropping and other adjustments. Very happy with the quality of the prints but some are just not framed or bordered like the photos I sent. I'm guessing that I need to resize the phots for ,say, a 5x7. Not the pixels...

    shoot raw-use special modes

If I shoot raw, does it make sense to set camera mode to portrait, landscape, child, sports, closeup, or night portrait? I'm thinking maybe close up due to focus. Please educate me. Paul

    Deselecting a tool in Photoshop

I have the trial version and have yet to understand how to deselect a tool. They tell me to click the window containing the tool and I will see dotted or dashed lines surrounding the tool. I don't see that. Then click select drop down an click deselect to remove all active tools. Doesn't work...

    Edit program choices

I plan to buy Perfect Photo Suite 9.5 and was wondering what you guys prefer- a hard copy (disk sent to your home) or a downloadable program. Seems like a disk would be better- but that's why I'm asking, Paul

    Prints

Hey guys, Okay, you shoot raw and then do your post processing. Now, probably many of you have state of the art printers and you simply print your photos. I don't have a decent printer and no money to invest in one right now. What can I do to get my post processed photos in print form? Paul

    3300 malfunctioning

I just had a long and tedious thread on my camera not focusing. Thought the guys solved my problem but even in auto focus it is still not even close to focusing. Now I can't delete any photos either. I feel the camera is malfunctioning. I bought the camera from B&H last September. They're...

    3300 out of focus?

I was able to return to some acreage I owned several years ago. I had limited time and did not want to practice manual settings as I may not ever be able to return. I shot JPEG "auto". Some of my pics were clearly out of focus- I was really disappointed. About 75% seemed to be clearly focused...

    Beam of Light

I saw a video of a child walking down the sidewalk at night. There was a beam of light coming from the sky (aka a UFO or a helicopter). It was done (the beam) with Photoshop-would it be possible to create this effect with Lightroom? Paul

    Buy Lightroom?

Money's tight for us here in Red Creek NY. Is now a good time to buy LR? If they come out with a new version within the year, are owners of the current version entitled to updates? Another question - how big is LR as I seem to have limited space on my hard drive. One more-anyone recommend a good...
