How do I photograph drops of water?

You've probably all seen photos like these but I'm interested to know how people capture the moment that a drop of water (or a ball bearing or similar) hits a coloured pool of water. It creates a 'crown' effect (similar to below). I gather it has to be in a fairly tight macro situation but is...

Okay, boring though it may be, it's the moon again. I used the 500ml lens and thought I'd try Layer stacking. 7 raw images. The first picture is the result. The second picture is one of those images tarted up a bit in PS. Cheers, Brad :)

Moon in layers Thought I'd be adventurous and try shooting the moon for layer stacking. I only took 7 images, raw files. 500ml lens so it was not easy with the moon moving so fast. The D3200. Cheers, Brad :)

I think as long as you're ticking that 'Align Source Layers' box, PS should do okay. Cheers, Brad :)

Scott, if you're using a tripod, try more images. That upload of the red Gerbera had over 30 layers. Cheers, Brad :)

No clouds this morning so I went out at about 5.30 to have look at the moon through a friend's 500ml lens. It's a noticeable difference from my original 200ml lens. Does it still look upside down sOnIc? ;) Cheers, Brad :)

    Restoring Menu settings...

If I change my camera menu settings, am I able to save those settings? Or do I have to Erase Settings and Restore to original settings? Is this a problem? Cheers, Brad :)

Hi boys. sOnic's (I wish everyone had names!) tips are extremely useful and I'll keep them here for the next time I go moon walking. It's certainly a fascinating subject. I'm not too far from a dark country road so I might venture out for some stars too. This is the original image, marce. A...

With the encouragement of people on Nikonites, I've started shooting in RAW. Being somewhat ignorant of the sky and the moon, I decided to take a photo of it yesterday afternoon with the D3200. I even put the camera on AUTO. With a little bit of fiddling with the raw file, I was surprised. This...

DigitalWorld Show in Melbourne Australia today. Nikon was clearly a winner!

At the enormous DigitalWorld show in Melbourne, Australia today, Nikon held the prime location at the main entrance, giving away 'showbags' of info to thousands and thousands of visitors. It really was a fantastic display; completely hands-on with lots of advisors and helpers. They had a theatre...

Hmmm...not sure if this qualifies but I saw this droplet of water (several drops) on an Oriental Lily leaf and was taken in by the simplicity of it all. Cheers, Brad ;)

I'll probably take a few more today. The sun is shining and there's no crazy wind, so perhaps the bees will be out. I managed these yesterday with the Nikkor 40mm f/2.8 DX G AF-S. Cheers, Brad :)
