Have you tried adjusting the Exposure Compensation in 'Aperture Priority' mode for a little more light and speed? Cheers, Brad :)

The weather was a bit crazy in Melbourne today. Tried to capture the bees on the blossom. They all blew away! Hence, Kaffir Lime fruits from my garden. I use the leaves more than the fruits but that doesn't mean I don't find them interesting. Nikkor 40mm f2.8. ISO 100. Cheers, Brad :)

    Be gentle with me, please...

Thank you to everyone who has commented and suggested. There's an enormous range of possibilities. I'll admit to not really having a fixed idea when I went outside to shoot the picture. A silly mistake. Anyway, here are two (cropped only) shots from the same group. They may appeal more to some...

I'll put this up for complete criticism and suggestion. Slaughter it if you will but please tell me why. I'm here to learn from all you good folk. I have resized it for uploading here. Cheers, Brad :)

More from the forest Whilst the quality of the photos are not as good as I would have liked (I find shooting outdoors in odd lighting difficult) I'll put some up here nevertheless. One of the signs in the forest talked about listening carefully to the sounds around you. A few million years ago...

A beautiful day in Melbourne so a walk through our Sherbrooke Forest was in order. At Grant's Picnic Ground there is a Cockatoo and Native Parrot feeding area. Plenty of tourists screaming when the Sulphur Crested Cockatoo screeched and carried on. They put on a good show if they're in the mood...

    Requirements for shooting sport

Thought I might like to try and shoot some sport. Aussie Rules football, soccer or whatever. But it will be an outdoor sport. We aren't allowed onto the ground in Australia, so it will be from the sidelines. Any thoughts on lenses, settings etc? Cheers, Brad :)

These are a VERY bright orange succulent flower. (We call the pink version 'PigFace' - I'm not sure why!) I used the kit lens 18-55mm. Cheers, Brad :)

Rather amusing pic of my cat 'Dusty' doing a "What're you lookin' at?" pose. She is, in fact, petrified of the chooks. I used the 18-55 kit lens for these. Cheers, Brad :)

Winter is finally coming to a close in Melbourne, Australia. Although it's very mild compared with what a lot of you have to put up with. No snow here! But a bit of warmth in the air means the garden starts to come to life. I used the 18-200 Nikkor lens here. Closest focal point. This is a tree...

A teensy bit warmer in Melbourne today. Spring is on its way. Three shots from my garden. Tree Peony Rose (first flower), Common old mauve daisy and the last two shots are of the Leptospermum (I hope that's right) and a close up of the same flower. Cheers, Brad :)

Jill (I hope your name is Jill?) it was easier than expected. Get your exposures right with a couple of trial shots, then start the event. Everyone says to use manual focus but I screwed up last time I used manual focus. So this time I shot auto and started with the little green square (focus...
