    Post your Photographing the photographer.

I took this back in October, 2022. As I was walking along Avenue de New York, in front of the Museum of Contemporary Art (Musée d'Art Moderne de Paris) I saw this gal stop and take a pic of the Eiffel Tower across the Seine. It was a nice moment, and she was unaware of what I did. D500 70-300mm...

Another pic with the magnificent Z 50mm 1.8 S. Though not reflected by this low-rez jpg, the detail in the beard and ball cap amazes. Z5 Z 50mm 1.8 S

Post Your Black and Whites Photos!!

I, too, am astounded at the tonal quality and sharpness. I didn't buy it because it is one of the more affordable Z lenses, but because I have long preferred the 50mm or its equivalents in medium and large format. There is a straightforward perspective that I like, especially in taking pics of...

Found on the pier at Huntington Beach, California. The color version didn't express the nostalgic charm I associated with this vintage beach telescope, but I think this B/W version does. Z5 Z 50mm 1.8S

Settings for Focus Shift Shooting - Z 105mm

In looking at the EXIF data for the 2 pics under your recent "Happy Camper" post (excellent btw) I can see how your comments are illustrated in the 2 shots. Manual Exposure set at 1/180th, f16 for using on-camera flash as your primary light source. So, ambient light is probably underexposed by...

Dang. I actually gave the title some thought, but missed the obvious. Yours is a good one.

    Street Peddler

Found this in an alley recently. There was a car parked in front of the mural so it took some contorting and stretching to get a straight-on shot, and cropped a little in PS. Z5 Z 24-70mm F4

Settings for Focus Shift Shooting - Z 105mm

Thank you, gentlemen, for both your replies. A very helpful discussion. I don't have the Z 105mm at the moment but will rent one for a day in order to gain enough experience with image stacking to consider buying the lens. Thank you.

Settings for Focus Shift Shooting - Z 105mm

I watched a few videos tutorials on this, and understand the menu choices for Focus Shift Shooting on my Z5, but I'm not grasping which other settings to use. I can make some educated guesses, but thought I would ask those who are experienced. A pre-flight checklist? Many thanks. Focus Mode...

Afternoon light. Because of the large shadow area on the left, the window appears off-center. It is perfectly centered within this frame, though it may not have been in-camera. There is a tinge of pincushion distortion with this lens that is difficult to correct here, due to the abundance of...

    Suggestions on a mid-range Z zoom?

Thank you, that may be the way to go. The most recent AF-P 70-300mm FX VR receives positive views, but it is a challenge to find on the used market. There are plenty of the older AF-S versions. So, latest lens and FTZ is still around $750 or higher. ???

    Suggestions on a mid-range Z zoom?

Like many, I feel the pinch in not having a mid-range Z zoom that extends to 300mm, one that is somewhat affordable and as lightweight as possible. For many years I schlepped around a D500, 2 primes, and the 70-300mm AF-P DX VR which was good enough when extra reach was needed. In comparison...
