Post Your Black and Whites Photos!!

An oldie from May, 2020. The Eiffel Tower was backlit hence the tones were washed-out considerably. The image didn't look good as high contrast so I dodged-and-burned the tower as appropriate. It's a so-so composition of a familiar landmark. D500 70-300 AF-P DX VR

    Feedback appreciated

I, too, downloaded the pic and edited it as if it were mine. My photography education began in 1971 using 4x5 cameras and sheet film. It was essential to buy a set of liquid Spotone tints and superfine brushes in order to touch-up B&W enlargements for assignments. And, spot touching is a...

Default sorting of content by most recent?

Marilynne: as an example, when I go to the Architecture forum... there is no Jump to New located on the page anywhere. So, there is no default setting to always display most recent first? It is a multi-clic process to ascertain the last page of entries, and begin seeing what's of interest, or...

Default sorting of content by most recent?

Just wondering... when I enter into a sub-forum like, Post Your Black and White Photos!!, the display defaults to oldest entries first, and not to the most recent. So, I click on the highest page number to get to recent entries. Seems like an awkward way of doing things. I didn't see any setting...

Post Your Black and Whites Photos!!

I've always been a sucker for patterns. This is a section of those rubber pedestrian mats affixed to the ground near crosswalks, train platforms, etc. I was surprised that my NEF file looks almost like this jpg... just a little cropping and sharpening. The image was squared-up in camera which is...

    DX Lens on a Z Full-frame Body?

Nikon's refurb store has the Z 24-200mm at $719. That comes to $780 with tax for here in Southern California. So, the used one for $560 is a good deal (not including tax and shipping).

    DX Lens on a Z Full-frame Body?

Thanks BF, the Tamron does get good reviews. But my aging hands are a bit on the shaky side, so VR is a practical benefit for me. The Tamron lacks VR... am I correct? The 70-300mm 4.5-6.3 AF-P is a DX lens, non VR. I've used the VR version extensively. For the Z5 I would need the70-300mm...

    DX Lens on a Z Full-frame Body?

Thanks, I know the 70-300mm AF-P + FTZ would solve the problem, just didn't want to spend $750+ at the moment. I imagine when Nikon finally comes out with a Z equivalent, it will be pricey... which leads back to the 70-300 AF-P being a sound purchase. I'll now put these deliberations to rest...

    Post your church shots

These are four separate portal statues (lifesize) on the front entrance of the Basilica Saint Clotilde in Paris, France... near the Musée d'Orsay. I photographed them individually and then after PS adjustments, made a photo composite. It's a nice church in a quiet setting and doesn't receive...

    DX Lens on a Z Full-frame Body?

I am still trying to come up with an affordable solution to get more telephoto reach on a Z5. Budget is limited in my twilight years. :( 1. A used 70-300mm AF-P and FTZ would come to $700-$750 (tax and shipping). Not interested in the older AF-S version. 2. A refurb Z 24-200mm from Nikon...
