Is anyone using the Nikon 35-70 f/2.8?

I've been doing a lot of research on this lens and I have been quite impressed with its reviews. Some have rated the output quality as good as the 24-70, and some have rated it higher. I'm looking at one for $250. Compared to $1.9k for the 24-70, that's quite a buy. I was just looking for other...

Pre and Post Distortion Corrections using DxO

Just for fun, I made up a comparison of shots from 3 lenses: 18-35mm wide zoom; 24mm prime; and the 24-85mm zoom. With so much talk about this lens has more distortion and that lens has less distortion, I thought it would be interesting to see what can actually be done to help correct...

War Birds: B17 Flying Fortress; B24 Liberator; and a P51 Mustang

I went to the Boca Raton Airport on a good tip from Marilynne. It was pretty interesting watching these planes fly in and land. There were a lot of old-timers there. One man I talked to was 94. They were either pilots or members of the flight crews on these types of planes during World War II...

NIKON 24-85mm VR...... an excellent lens

A couple of weeks ago, I was able to score a new yellow-boxed 24-85VR for $227. Right place at the right time. This lens has really impressed me. It is easily becoming my favorite one-lens carry. With the recent special promotion of the D600/24-85, I believe that a fair amount of people will...

D800 with a Forty-Dollar 35-80mm Nikon Lens..... Anyone have experience?

Any of you with a D800, have you ever used a cheapo 35-80mm Nikon? I would think that with 36MP, any and all of the lens' flaws would be very apparent. If you have actually used this combination, what's your opinion?

Scored My New Walk-Around General Purpose Lens

I bid on a Nikon 24-85 VR lens on eBay. I had the highest bid.....$227.00! This is a brand new, never used, gold box, 5 year warranted, VR lens. It also came with a brand new Japanese Pro-Optic 72mm UV filter. I think it was an exceptional deal. Here's 3 fast examples taken in today's rain.
