This is a quick report on my daughter's camera. I got it for her earlier this year, but she hasn't really used it that much due to the weather. We sat down this morning and looked at a bunch of shots she has taken since the weather has cooled down. I must admit that I am impressed with the...

Here's one of my daughter's images. I really liked this one. She is very creative. BTW, that's a little umbrella that fits onto the hot shoe to protect the camera from rain.

When I bought Topaz a couple years ago, you got "free" updates for a year. After that it was $99 per year for Photo AI. I haven't updated after the first year. I have issues with tiling on many of my photos. There seemed to be no fix available at the time. I would gladly pay an upgrade fee, if I...

Some great images. I think some images from our group would stand up well against these.

My grandmother grew up there. I used to go with her on summer visits when I was a kid. I remember staying at the old family farm she grew up in. The first few times I was there it didn't have indoor plumbing, . The kitchen had a hand pump and a wood burning stove. I loved it.

Welcome. I live down the road a bit in the Charleston area. My wife's family came from a little town just outside of Chattanooga, Ooltewah. I look forward to seeing some of your work.

The general consensus on the Z lenses is that they are optically superior to the F mount lenses. Yes, they use more plastic than the old school lenses. This makes them lighter and potentially less robust than their all metal counterparts. The newer designs and larger Z mount allow the engineers...

There are some menu options that can help with the battery drain. I got a little annoyed with the display going dormant after a short period of time and changed it to a couple minutes. Battery life went down the drain. I quickly changed it back. Counterintuitively, the EVF consumes more power...

It's a new place for me. There is is an old bridge near the Charleston harbor that has been decommissioned. They turned it into sort of park and fishing pier. With the inter-coastal in front, the harbor on one side and marsh on both sides there are tons of birds around throughout the year...

Went on an outing to a new location for us. It's on the marsh next to the harbor and intercoastal. Got there as the sun was coming up and stayed for a while after. Nothing to alert the press on, but we had a good time.

I prefer the B&W. I think it would look better with some darker blacks. Not necessarily in the background, I like the small amount of detail in the sky, but the diner/tree trunks/parking lot seem to lack contrast and have no hard blacks. Some of that may be the from the posting process and may...

In breaking news, Erwin Schrödinger, a well known and respected physics professor, had his case of animal cruelty dismissed in court today. He was accused of placing a cat in a box with a device designed to release a poison when it detected radiation from a bit of unstable matter. The...

I don't think a Godox transmitter will work with a Nikon flash. You will likely need to either get a Nikon trigger, or a Godox flash for compatibility. I did a quick search online and didn't find anything definitive, but I have always been under the impression that a transmitter only works with...

Welcome. I got a Z8 back in the spring this year. I've been extremely happy with it's performance. I ,too, am primarily interested in nature and wildlife, with a side of macro. Might I suggest looking for a local group or club. My daughter and I joined a local nature photography group a while...

I believe all the full frame Z cameras do, and a couple of the crop frame models, like the Z50ii, as well. Check the manual for a specific model. It looks like the Z8 will do the merging of the images in camera. My Z5 only takes the images for later processing in post.
