New member old user been using Nikon since 2010 just got the z30

I think it's something in the water. I got on the mirrorless bandwagon a few years ago, and never looked back. But use what you like and are comfortable with. In the end, it's the image that matters. The camera is just the tool.

I will just briefly add that you need to format your card in the camera to get the DCIM folder created.

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets 2026

Well, after a good day at Magnolia last week, I had to pay for it this morning. It was a beautiful day, the sun was shining, the temperature was perfect and we even had a nice breeze. Just weren't that many birds out and about. I managed a couple kingfisher and osprey shots. I spent 20 min to a...

    Introducing the Z5IIC

Having grown up it the era when telephones had cords and dials, the lack of a viewfinder is a real non starter for me. My first camera, an Argus C4, didn't have a light meter, but it did have a viewfinder.

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets 2026

The eagles are back at Magnolia. By the time they showed up, the sun was high enough to make for some harsh, difficult lighting. I did get some takeoff, in flight, and landing shots, but the light from above deeply shaded the dark under wing area, and I already was using a -1 to -2 stop exposure...

Well going in deeper to the Z pool

My thoughts? I'm a little old to be adopted, but would consider it if it came with a Z 600mm F4.

Well going in deeper to the Z pool

A backup body is not a bad thing. I understand about the struggles with gear for a family member. My daughter is also into photography. Last year she decided she wanted to upgrade from her D5600. I was willing to get her into anything up to a Z8. She hemmed and hawed about one thing and another...

    FTZ adapter

I have the FTZ and have used it with the F mount 200-500 F5.6. The adapter works well, and the F mount lens worked just fine on a couple of my Z cameras. One thing to remember, unless you already have the FTZ, you will have to add $300 to the mix. I see the F mount 35mm F1.8 runs $200. It would...

    Post your Squirrel pictures

I seem to be taking a lot of squirrel pictures lately. Shame on me. (Kind of a household joke. I'm not overly fond of grey squirrels, as they are constantly getting on the bird feeder and gobbling up all the bird seed. My wife had a squirrel for a pet when she was a child, and so I put on an "I...

    Post your photobombed

He photobombed it, but didn't ruin it. I've been getting a lot of images from the backyard recently with bees and wasps flying by in the frame. The mountain mint really attracts the bees and wasps.
