    Post Your Automotive Shots!

Not sure what a MIG 21 has to do with automotive, but it's a neat shot. Where'd you get it?

Trying to get some more macro shooting in before the insects disappear. I've said this before, but I really need to try shooting some more available light macros. This one was somewhat backlit by morning sun. I took a few with the flash and then switched the flash off, cranked up the ISO and...

If you are talking about tropical cyclone 8, no. It is passing north of us. We aren't supposed to even get any rain from it today. It's a tad windy and overcast, and that's about it. Thanks for asking. We tend to keep an eye on the tropics here on the east coast this time of year.

High native ISO and UV/IR sensitivity mirrorless camera? Graphene CMOS or QIS sensors any time soon?

My understanding is that the new Z mount with a larger opening gives the designers more options for optical designs. That, and they are the latest designs. Nikon, and most other companies have stopped designing DSLR mount lenses and cameras. They are still manufacturing them, but only current...

I really didn't notice the sky at all until you said something. I might have gone with a little less dramatic sky, but everyone has a different taste on things. I doubt anyone would think it was a replacement just from looking at it. It is a really striking image.

I can't help you with some of the more esoteric questions you pose, I can, however, answer at least one. Yes, the FTZ adapter works well. I use one to adapt my 200-500 F5.6 F mount zoom to my Z5 and Z7ii cameras. Everything works as advertised. I will say that looking at comparable lenses, the...

Headed back over to Cypress Gardens this morning to try some more with the new gear. Almost got rained out, and the humidity was brutal, but I persevered. I was glad I had my snake boots for this one. I had to step too close to the swamp edge for comfort otherwise. This is probably my...

And here are a couple more. At this early stage I believe that the new diffuser is definitely better than my old one, perhaps not a huge upgrade, at least as far as light quality is concerned. It is a little softer, and more even lighting. The biggest difference is the lack of heavy shadows...

We tried something new. There are a number of plants at Magnolia that have large to very large leaves. We tried the technique of remotely triggering the flash to illuminate the leaves from behind. I don't think I really nailed any one of these, but it looks interesting enough to try again. There...

Well, the Pup and I made it out to Magnolia Plantation today to try out the new AK diffusers. They were a little more fiddly putting together standing at the trunk of the car, than sitting in a comfortable chair in the house. I'm sure some experience will take care of that. I may consider...

About the only thing we have around here that is that old is stone tools. Having said that, I did discover a wooden canoe in one of the local rivers that was carbon14 dated at over 4,000 years old. That was a red letter day diving.

Well, the AK diffuser came this afternoon. I hurriedly put it together and went out into the wild lands of the backyard. Unfortunately, the lynx spider had already finished her lunch, but I managed to rustle up a few other critters to shoot. No noteworthy results, but gave me an idea of how the...
