Pulled the trigger on a Z50ii for the Pup

My daughter has had some intermittent issues with her D5600 in the last couple months. We decided that she probably needs to replace it and perhaps do some upgrading, although she really doesn't particularly want to learn a new system. She also came to the conclusion that she was going to have...

New to Nikon DSLR from an old Pentax film guy.

Sounds a lot like me. Dad was into photography and gave me my first camera, an Argus C4 rangefinder. He never got into the mechanics of photography, but I do remember spending time watching him develop B&W. I went on to love B&W and set up a home darkroom. Digital has changed everything for me...

Any tips on pre release capture?

My bad. It was a 600 F6.3 PF. I guess I was just dreaming for a second while typing. A little while back I saw a lady at Magnolia who had over $30,000 worth of gear with her. I love great gear, but there are limits. I'm doing my best to convince myself that my 200-500 is just as good as the...

Any tips on pre release capture?

Making a little progress. I went back over to Magnolia this morning. Unfortunately, shortly after I got to the north 40, the clouds rolled in and that took it's toll on the ISOs. I did remember to keep my shutter speeds up. I also hauled my tripod with me. My shoulder wasn't happy by the time I...

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Thanks. I'm trying hard to improve my photography. I went for many years in the film days without making much progress. The digital age of photography has made quite a difference in my images.

    Clovis' Nikon Nuggets

Got up early and headed over to Magnolia. The birds were very active. Was talking with a friend from the CNPA and this guy flew by. I just threw the camera to eye and tracked and fired. I checked the first couple of the string on the back of the camera and thought the Z8 didn't lock and track...

Any tips on pre release capture?

Got a couple more this morning. I need to go back to Magnolia and set up with a tripod. This looks like a great place to get some small birds in flight early in the morning. These were just a couple quick handheld pre-captures. I had my shutter speed set to 1/2000 for some other shooting I was...

    Post your award winning photos

I'm sure that some of you enter, and place in photo contests. Here is the place to brag, I mean share, about it. I'll start off. North Charleston, SC has an arts festival every year and they have competitions in various categories. I managed to win a second place in the amateur color section...

I am still here. Just busy. 2025

It's a good thing you were in Australia. Here in the US that would have been a whopping 9.8 feet. Hope you get back on your feet soon.

    Woody's Hermosa Luz 2025

Maybe you posted and I missed it, but what is the circumstance with the owls. You've been posting superb owl images nearly every day. This must be a nest nearby where you live.

    Snapbridge Question

My intent was to offer a simple, inexpensive alternative to using Snapbridge. Between my experience with it, and the issues I see brought up here quite often, it seems to be a troublesome piece of software, and a viable alternative might be handy.
