I do a lot of macro work. I use flash for the majority of it. I use a different setup, a normal shoe mounted flash with a macro diffuser, but the concepts are the same. My guess from your description, is that you are using a large aperture. You will probably need to stop down to F/11 or F/16...

Many photographers prefer the "exposure preview" that an EVF gives. It took me a couple weeks to get used to the EVF vs the traditional optical viewfinder. Once I did, I didn't want to go back. I now consider this one of the major strengths of mirrorless. Of course, we all have our own shooting...

I shoot this way. I have my RAW files on the primary card, my newer cameras have CFexpress in the first slot. I have it set to save JPEG in the secondary slot, SD cards. The JPG gives me an easy backup in case something happens to the RAW files. I have yet to need the backup JPEGs, but I started...
