    PSA, check your mounting plate.

That is a possibility, I guess, but the most likely scenario in my mind is that I didn't tighten it down properly. I do remember thinking I felt a little bit of odd clunking while following birds, but was engrossed in what I was doing. I definitely won't ignore that in the future, and...

    PSA, check your mounting plate.

Went out to take some BIF and other wildlife pictures this morning. Shortly after dawn, I mounted up the trusty Z5 and 200-500 F5.6 lens to my new tripod and set off to get some nice images. AT the end of the session, as I was heading back down the trail to the car, I noticed something wasn't...

Got back over to the Audubon Swamp Garden this morning. Had a few problems, but managed to come back with a few keepers.

    Post your Birds in Flight

I've some BIF before, but had a chance to shoot a lot of them this morning. Herons were nesting and flying back and forth between the nests on the little island to the trees in the surrounding woods. I have a lot to learn, and need to change a few settings, but got a few keepers.

    Woody's Vea La Luz 2023

My guess for the last 3 waxwing pictures would be something like: no 1: 11.2m, no 2: 7.08m and no 3: 7.1m. All with a 500mm lens mounted on a Nikon D500. +1 on the great pictures.

    No monochrome

Unless you are looking to have a B&W display, I would shoot it in RAW, color and then convert to B&W post processing. You have a ton of control that way. In Lightroom you have sliders for each individual color, and can see what those level changes do to the B&W image.

    In my yard

We have other issues to deal with. Things like hurricanes and critters like this one.

Around here, if you have a lot of white powdery stuff underfoot, you're at the beach.

    Catherder's 2023 Photo Mish Mash

Thanks, we don't have any waterfalls in my area, but we do have moving water. Again, those are some very nice images.

    Catherder's 2023 Photo Mish Mash

We have a small chapel nearby that is called Pompion Hill Chapel. It was undoubtedly named by the French Huguenots that lived in the area. It is officially pronounced as "Punkin" Hill Chapel. Go figure. I wish we had some waterfalls in our area. Still, there is always something good to...

Post Your Black and Whites Photos!!

This is the B&W version of an image I posted in street photography. I think I like the B&W better.

I probably should let my photos sit for a couple days before posting. I often view them several times over a couple day period, and sometimes find issues/improvements that need attention. I usually don't bother to repost, but in this case thought I should. It's easy to get excited about new...

OK, I got to looking at this and decided to remove the, to me, distracting letters on either side of Hank's, as well as bringing up the shadows in the windows. Not big changes, but I think it makes the image better overall.
