Yes, I tend to lean toward the first one as well. There are elements of the others that I am drawn to, but it's a matter of trade offs to get some of those elements.

You're right, it is a black vulture. I wasn't really thinking about the difference between the two when I posted. Both are common sights around here. These were taken at the Birds of Prey Center. I'm not that good at stalking wildlife.

I've had a few GBHs let me get close enough to run up on minimum focusing distance with my 200-500. Most aren't that friendly.

Mating season for them will be starting here soon. I usually only take gator pictures when there isn't much else to take pictures of. It's kind of like shooting fish in a barrel at some of these spots.

The other option would be to set one of your user defined modes. Set it up for BIF and you could very quickly switch from static wildlife settings, to BIF, with a higher FPS rate.

Have you tried different cards? You might also try having it save only RAW files to see what happens.
