Usually Great Blue Herons swallow the fish they catch whole, then regurgitate it in the nest for the babies. In this case, the big old catfish this GBH caught just wouldn't go down the hatch, so he carried it in his beak and delivered it to the nest.

Some American Bittern shots from Florida. Bitterns are well known for being reclusive and difficult to spot. Their color and markings make for great camouflage in the reeds and grass. This particular bird was out in the open much more than usual, so my finger was mashing the shutter button.
