    Post your Train shots!

6-2-2026: Sterling IL near the causeway on the Rock River. Union Pacific 4014 Big Boy leaving it's whistle-stop downtown. Inserted video in my Project 360 thread. Not particularly proud other than I successfully juggled setting up and operating 3 cameras at the same time at 2 locations.

    Post your Train shots!

6-2-2026 West of Galt, IL. Union Pacific 4014 Big Boy on it's tour across the USA. I am the one person who is bat-poop crazy enough to use an infrared camera to photograph Big Boy.

BF Hammer 2026: Me and my Zf

6-2-2026: Same places in infrared. Bonus short-but-crappy video. Yes I was operating 3 cameras at the same time. Sun was so bright I could not even really see the screen on my Lumix to preview the video framing.

@bluzman An extremely small possibility you could have bought my D750 I traded away in March. :D If I remember right, the D780 was mostly a D750 with some improvements in video and LiveView. Not much new offered for stills photographers.

    help with focus

If it was left to auto subject dectection, it was likely searching for eyes on people to focus on.

    help with focus

3D tracking is going to follow a subject it has locked on to in depth as well as up-down and side-side. Highly recommended for birds in flight, moving vehicles, and sports that have people moving quickly. Did you have your D750 only using the central focus points or were you using the full grid...

Frustration with Nikon Imaging Cloud software

When Imaging Cloud is configured right, you can send images from camera to Google Photos, Nikon Image Space and other services directly. Nearly as easy as posting a cellphone image to Instagram.

Post your favorite May 2026 shot

I liked my wind turbines from the beginning of the month. But it took me 3 work trips to finally walk away with a streetcar photo I was looking for. So if not my favorite, it was more satisfying.

Frustration with Nikon Imaging Cloud software

I only tested Imaging Cloud when I got my Zf. But connecting to a Wi-Fi router in general has proven to be a road full of potholes. I find best to use the 5G option and there is some option for authentication security. By default it is Auto, but that was a fail for me until I changed to a manual...

OK, not a train. An overhead-electric very light rail streetcar. In Kenosha, WI and it's pretty sneaky too.

I think you will want to use every bit of the field of view from the 14mm. I did do some early milky way work with a D750 + Sigma 20mm f/1.4 but I always preferred the extra width of the 15mm f/2.8 I later bought.

    Lens adaptor

Stick to Nikon's FTZ-II adapter and you should have the least trouble. There are aftermarket adapters out there but none have a great reputation right now. Most are not compatible with autofocus.

And he did it with a bad heart. With the urgency of someone who felt like he was on borrowed time.

    Art Sinsabaugh bio

I stumbled into this video on Wisconsin Public Television about 2012, and never was able to find it again. Until today that is, looks like it was uploaded 6 months ago. I have to admit that I had never heard of Art Sinsabaugh before that, and discovering his large-format photos of places I am...

    Newbie from Shreveport,LA, first mirrorless

Welcome! I spent 2 years using a D750 and Z5 at the same time as I grew comfortable with the mirrorless. I eventually fully transitioned to the Z5, then recently traded off both bodies to use a Zf full-time now. I regret none of it.
