Honeysuckle Bee ​

Day 147, 2013 - Trilobite Recovered this little specimen here in Utah. From the looks it appears to be somewhere in the middle of its fossilization. It's amazing the detail that the Nikon 40mm Micro captures.

Saw this Godzilla sized bee. Had the camera all set, focus dialed in, and pulled the trigger. Unfortunately that was the same moment he jumped into flight and I got a big old bee butt picture.

Day 146, 2013 - Flower Revisiting my favorite flowers again, but with a Nikon 40mm Micro. There's nothing I like about the composition of the shot but I was trying to do what I could in the wind to shield the flower long enough to get an in focus shot.

It's not specifically a train, but here is a very old train bridge at sunset casting a nice glow.

Day 142, 2013 - Tree

Day 141, 2013 - Flower (thought I got this up last night) The flowers are only 3/16 (5mm) when fully opened. From standing height I never saw the detail. At eye level the flower was absolutely stunning. So wished I had the 40mm Micro for this, but the 50mm Prime did the job well.

Day 140, 2013 - Sunset The sun was setting and it was nice, but the clouds piling up against the mountain opposite of the sunset looked really interesting.

The sun rising after hours of standing on a mountain top in sub freezing temps in a light jacket. Glad the night was over to get back in the vehicle and get some warmth. ​

With some guidance from Dave I was able to capture the following shots. Amazingly, a number of the shots were on the 18-55mm kit lens because I wanted to see if I could and I needed the greater width. Others shots were from a 35mm 1.8G Prime.

Day 138, 2013 - Bear Lake, Utah Proud of this one. Turned out really nice. Bear Lake is a high altitude natural mountain lake with beautiful blue water... and cold!
