Can you help ID this bird please?

I never saw the back or top of its head. It kept its eye on me the entire time by always facing me. Here is another pic which I lightened even more. Although it looks kind of buff-colored, it really was more greyish. I've seen people locally post images of catbirds so I know they are around -...

Can you help ID this bird please?

Definitely a lousy image - was only testing this lens due to issues with the AF. This was a new bird that I've never seen, and it gave off a chirp that was completely unrecognizable to anything I've ever heard. Any idea what it is? And what are the lines on the right side? Eye lashes? Whiskers?

I went back out to test the sharpness of the AF - unfortunately these were all in very shaded areas so I hit my capped ISO limit and wound up having to increase my exposure during post. But the bird photo (which was by far the most underexposed image) still shows detail. So it seems the AF is...

    Unable to post images

Let me try.... It looks okay before submitting it. What problem do you encounter @Woodyg3 - is the site too slow and it times out? Or do you post and wind up with the dreaded attachment unavailable issue? Or something else? Please be specific so I can relay the info to jdeg. Have you tried...

I had hoped the vulture images were soft due to the lack of contrast, but after a prime photo opp of a Red-Tailed Hawk with a Blue Jay, absolutely everything turned out soft. So I'm going to have to contact Nikon again to see if they will take another look at this lens. I wound up...

This afternoon I was really stoked to see quite a few vultures flying overhead. Then there was one that flew out of the brush just a few feet away - scared the heck out of me. :beguiled: But situations such as this where there isn't much of any contrast simply don't cut it. I shot 100+ images...

Weekly Challenge May 26 - June 1: Anything Goes

I vaguely remember hearing about Expo '74 back in the day. It was touted as an iconic World's Fair that made the news every once in a while. No doubt the LED lights are amazing to see and photograph. Several years ago, a fair that came to the area each year upgraded its Ferris Wheel lights to be...

    hark 2021

This first image was from the other day. Since the weather forecast was for rain Saturday, Sunday, and today, I wanted to be sure to capture this Veterans Park while the weather was still nice. Turns out the forecast changed late yesterday so today was pretty nice. This is the base of the...

    issues with this lens

If you have a smart phone, please consider downloading a Depth of Field app. The one I use is a paid app (Simple DoF), but there are decent free ones. Take a look at these 2 charts. Both are based on the Nikon D7100 at the 11" distance you mentioned being the closest you can focus. The...

@nikonpup what date was this taken? My add-on EXIF reader doesn't list a date like it did for your other two submissions (which I already edited and included for you).
