There is an internal battery in the body (not talking about the removable one). However, I'm not sure the internal battery plays any part in the screen displaying. I *think* there might be a setting to select how long the screen stays lit although I'm not sure. Maybe either @Fred Kingston or...

Try this reset which is more of an electrical reset that @Peter7100 shared with us (Peter, I wanted to quote your post and put it into this thread but haven't yet figured out how to do that so your username gets attached). The reset you did was only to reset the shooting menu back to default...

Today in my neighborhood there are a bunch of Christmas trees sitting at the curb, but the trash won't take them until January 14th. 😄

The blog is a third party add-on, not a part of the software for the forum. Whether one will be added, I don't know. I'm not sure blogs were widely used on the old forum so that might have factored into the decision (just a guess though).

I think so, Bikerbrent. I think so. :) But it's going to take me some time to figure out why points aren't being added. It's enabled behind the scenes. In the future I will look further into this, my friend.

On our original forum, a point system was set up with points being earned for activity. Although it looks like the point system here is enabled (at least looking at settings behind the scenes), I will try to see why points aren't adding up. Anyway ... this is the list of points and how to earn...

Back in the late 1990's, I attend The Nikon School in Philadelphia. Towards the end of the day, the two instructors showed a video (like a PowerPoint presentation) of images they complied. The photos were nostalgic - or at least appeared to be. And this song by Harry Nilsson was the background...

Nice detail in this black bird, Roy. It seems any bird I photograph that is almost or fully black tends to turn out too dark. And editing after-the-fact (increasing exposure/shadows) always adds noticeable noise. Nicely captured. :)

Are you sure you are clicking the hood in place? I've read about issues with that hood though. The hood for my Nikon 80-400mm requires a little bit of pressure to lock in place, but it's very secure. As for not being weather sealed, down the road you might want to consider a raincoat. I prefer...

Kudos on your lenses, DS! I wish I had the strength to hold the 200-500mm by hand, but my images came out blurred when I rented one (used VR and a fast shutter speed, too). I never tried the 16-80mm but have heard great things about it. So do you have a moon image taken at 1/60"? This one lists...
