    DOWN TIME 6/20/2025

Many accounts are getting banned, but it shouldn't have anything to do with whatever happened behind the scenes.

I will let jdeg know. The forum was fine for me earlier this morning, but I probably wasn't on at the same time as you. Thanks for letting us know.

You'd be looking for a Nikon EN-4 battery. I kind of doubt Nikon still makes them, but it's possible aftermarket batteries are available. Sometimes aftermarket ones don't always allow a camera body to function perfectly. But looking for the battery by name might help. Welcome to Nikonites!

    Went to the gym today

Also ... look up Fat Gripz. They help develop the forearms as well as the biceps just by holding a fatter grip than a bicep curl bar offers. It's also more comfortable to hold something that is fatter especially when it weighs more.

    Went to the gym today

If you are just starting back up, you'd be better off using a lighter weight and doing 2 sets of 10. But a curl machine isn't enough. There are several dumbbell exercises you can do which will work different areas of the biceps. Do they have a bicep curl bar in addition to the curl machine? Any...

Do you have a camera store in the area that could look at it? I know there aren't a lot of those around anymore though.

    Feed back on black birds.

By the way, @Needa, I'm not a fan of grackles. The adults don't hesitate to kill smaller birds. They poked a hole into a sparrow's head once. Had to bury the poor little bird. They often attack other birds while they are trying to eat. Fortunately I haven't had many over the past 2-3 years. No...

    Feed back on black birds.

How different is the preview? I have a D750 that allows me to see the exposure on the rear screen. In the past, I know I had to enable it in the camera's settings. Just can't remember if it was my D750 or D610. Is the preview that different from a DSLR that allows the actual exposure to be...

    Feed back on black birds.

Oh ... I just remembered there was a time when I switched to spot metering temporarily. I used to photograph high school musicals and dramas. No flash was allowed, and of course the stage had really bright lights. Spot metering helped prevent the stage lights from interfering with the camera's...

    Feed back on black birds.

Use whatever works for you. I first learned on a manual focus 35mm SLR that had both Aperture Priority or full Manual Mode. It offered center weighted metering so I found center weighted metering on a DSLR better than Matrix metering for my preferences. I was already accustomed to using it...

    Feed back on black birds.

Hopefully @Woodyg3 will chime in. I'm pretty sure he's photographed many black birds while showing detail.

    Feed back on black birds.

I tend to use center weighted metering for most of my photos including birds. It depends on the scene – I eyeball it and use the +/- button with Aperture Priority and Auto ISO. You did great here, @Needa. Do you know if this is a grackle? They are black with iridescent bodies. Sometimes their...

    Setting FPS.

Continuous will allow multiple images while the shutter is pressed. Most NIkon cameras have a mode dial. At the bottom of the mode dial shows options for shooting. It should be identified as a CL or CH (Continuous Low or Continuous High). Low shoots fewer frames per second than High. I think...

    D7200 with the 24-120 f4 FX lens

When calibrating a lens, nothing should change how the other lenses work on the same body. The camera body will remember the calibration based on the serial number of the lens. So even if you have 2 identical lenses, the calibration will only be affect the lens you adjusted. Glad to hear the...
