Oh well, too late for the monthly contest..........

............but here is a black and white abstract pattern using three champagne glasses. Shot in my homemade light tent with an F4 and T-Max 100 film. I love this stuff! I need to do a better job of keeping track of the date!

    Post your ultra-wide angle shots

For me at least, ultra wide angle means my fisheye or maybe my 20mm, but anything taken with a super wide angle focal length applies.

    Now THIS is big hair!

Leigh has very thick and wavy hair that goes down to about mid thigh. It is certainly an eyecatcher. I shot her on the RR tracks near my home using a D700 and 85mm f/1.4 AIS @ f/2 on an overcast day with balanced fill flash.

Who here has a cool forty grand burning a hole in their pocket?

I am sure I should be able to find that much going through our two couches........... The listing is wrong, however, this is an AI Nikkor, not a non-AI Nikkor...

One of my favorite images from my time in the Pacific Northwest

I get a chill each time I look at this photo. It was one of my best attempts, I think at least, of using the Zone System to achieve what I wanted out of an image. It is in a 16x20 in my den and has been for almost 25 years. Nikon F2, 55mm f/2.8 AIS Nikkor and Plus-X film at ASA 64. I "sepia...

One of my earliest attempts at serious portrait photography

Very primative setup compared to today! A Vivitar 283 bounced into a square Reflectasol umbrella using a hand-made mount and a Nikkormat FT3 with 105mm f/2.5 AIS Nikkor. The "background" was a piece of hand spray-painted posterboard. Tri-X film exposed at ASA 400. If I recall correctly, this was...

A couple from the way back time machine

Both were taken with the FE-2 and I am sure the 24mm AIS Nikkor either in either the winter of 1984 or 1985, probably 1985. Film was Plus-X rated at 64 instead of 125. The one of Mt Ranier was taken not long after sunset using a 25A filter to darken the sky even further. I may have used it on...

Repair manual for the 20mm f/2.8 AIS Nikkor

Anyone know where I can get my hands on a copy of this? A web search has come up with nothing

    A beach, a sunrise, a pretty girl......(NSFW)

Took this one a ways back but it is still one of my favorites. I don't do nudes very often, in fact I do them rather infrequently. But Ashley was one of my favorites to work with. The 105mm f/1.8 AIS in all its glory. I told her she looked like Steffi Graf in this profile and she said "who?"...

    Another day at the beach

Gorgeous day, 73º and not a cloud in the sky. Oh yes, and a beautiful woman in a bikini. D700 and the 180mm f/2.8 ED AIS @ f/4 with an 8x ND filter

    My oldest daughter at 1

This was taken back in 1987 not long before we left WA state. It is hard to believe that was 27 years ago! Kodachrome colors sure hold up nicely!

    Lynnsey

This one from a casual shoot. The lighting was basic, straightforward "glamour" lighting with a single strobe above and a reflector underneath to open up shadows. The background got blitzed with two strobes to obliterate it and give a high key effect. Oh those wonderful freckles and baby...

    Sleeping otter

I shot this image of a sleeping otter back around 1986 or so at the Seattle aquarium. That is mist coming off the water in the background. I am sure I used an FE-2 and my 300mm f/4.5 AIS Nikkor on this one. The film is Ektachrome 100 scanned with the Coolscan LS-8000

    Another Cemetery Shot

This time from a different point of view. F4S, 180mm f/2.8 ED AIS Nikkor and TX at ASA 200. The "moonlight" effect was added in Phostoshop.

    3am or 3pm?

The correct answer of course is 3 pm today. F4S and 18omm f/2.8 ED-AIS @ f/4 with TX @ ASA 200 in D-76 1:1 and scanned with the LS-8000. Right about the time I was ready to start shooting film, I realized I should have grabbed the F2 instead of the F4. The batteries in the F4S were dead as a...

    Weathered Old Red Barn Door

I shot this image back in April 1987 while still up in WA state. There was an old barn in the midst of all the tulip fields in La Connor, where there are over 1000 acres of tulips grown each year. It is literally tulips as far as the eye can see. FE-2, 55mm f/2.8 AIS Micro Nikkor and Kodachrome...

The Nikon Scanner is back up and running finally

After a $35 cable because my previous Firewire cable was 6 pin to 6 pin and the laptop has a 4 pin connection, the scanner is back working. It has been a while since I used Nikon Scan 4 so I had to clean out some cobwebs. At 4000 dpi, the 6x4.5 files were 175 MB and the 35mm 74 MB but the...
