Goodness me, even my more knowledgeable friends are divided on this one, the short antennae being an issue as you noted. o_O I think I'll settle for 'a beetle' ;)

Thanks to the British Wildlife Trusts website I found this: I think it's the same beetle. :unsure:

Much to my surprise I managed to find a critter yesterday, I believe it is a Golden bloomed Longhorn Beetle (please correct me if I'm wrong). It was sat in front of a hedgerow blossom which I haven't identified yet.

Thanks, I was pleased with the shots, especially the amorous ladybirds (ladybugs I believe you call them). I can't wait for the bugs to come out and play - I'm getting some funny looks when I stick fruit pips on leaves for my practice shots :eek::p

This topic is especially interesting for me as I'm still trying to come to terms with my shaky hands and an acute lack of bugs of any description therefore any tips and other into I can pick up is more than welcome. I am practising with the homemade diffuser you commented on here...

In case you don't now, if the Coolscan ever thows a wobbly, there is a guy in Lincolnshire that has lots of spares and can repair most versions. Age and arthritis is taking it's toll so I'm winding down my film work, closing down my darkroom and concentrating on digital macros and a limited...

I hope you get satisfaction. I'm still shooting and processing film after 60 years, 35mm up to 5x4inch, and I still love it although it is only B&W these days as colour is way out of my financial reach now.
