Day 132 - May showers on May flowers (no pilgrims were harmed during this play on words)

1st, with the pea gravel bed as a background...

Day132-1.jpg

Then a couple of different edits on a close up. Although I'm usually a big fan of B&W, I think the edge goes to the dark and grungy...

I personally like the top shot best....the browns in the background are very pretty and compliment the colours in the daisy :D

Day 129 - Just messing, nothing fancy

Decided to mess with creating a panorama in PS, so went outside and snapped off 4 handheld shots of the privacy fence down one side of the back yard to see what would happen. Much easier than I expected, and I'm pleased with the outcome. Soon I'll work on getting a pano worth looking at.

Lessons learned tonight, time to watch the playoffs.
Not sure about this one , I think i be a fence sitter ;) he he , panos are fun !

I am the king of over-clarifying/over-sharpening, and while I find the appeal in the other two, I think the first image captures that edge between the delicateness of the subject and the edit you want.

Day 133 - 18-55

Only one lens I haven't tested on the D7100 yet, until today.

Kit lens - full glory. LOVE the close focus capabilities of a lens many dismiss...

Day133-1.jpg

Here's a 100% crop, just because I can.

Day133-3.jpg

A little different variation of the same flower. Anybody know what these are?

Day133-4.jpg

And a black and white, because we all know I love 'em!

Day133-5.jpg

Then, my favorite flower of the moment, the Darling Daisy. Close focus with the kit lens, and a bit of editing fun, and this time ( @wthorson ) I remembered the border!

Day 134 - AROOOOO! Full moon low on the horizon last night, and I actually managed to capture it in the color I saw before shooting. ;) Other than that, the full moon is kinda boring, since you don't get all the cool craters and such...

Day 135 - Local Hero

Here's Tulsa's Golden Driller. He's 76 feet tall, 43,500 pounds worth of oil worker, and the largest free standing statue in the world (last I knew, anyway).

Day135-4.jpg

The shot that made me dizzy as the clouds overhead were moving at a good clip.

Day135-3.jpg

And my personal favorite shot of the day.

Day135-5.jpg

He stands as a tribute to the oil and gas industry that made Tulsa what it is today.

Day 136 - STATE!!!

So, I told you in a previous post, that after 8 months of piano lessons, my son was a shining success at his district level trials, and was approved to continue to state. Well... today, he performed at the state level, and for his "tenure", he walked out with the highest ranking possible! PROUD PAPA!

Here are a few quick shots (as he absolutely HATES having his picture taken).

This one was BEFORE he knew I was shooting. He might be 13, but he's still my nervous little boy.

Day136-1.jpg

AFTER he knew I was snapping pics, he displayed the calm confidence (and glare) of a teen boy thinking, "Somehow, Dad, I'm gonna make you pay for this..."

Day136-2.jpg

Then, here was the best look I could get out of him with his trophy in hand. My OCD kicked in, as I wanted to level the bench, but then the bricks were off kilter. I ended up going with level lines on the brick, as that was what was TRUE level. The bench had to suffer for being built on a slope...

I don't have OCD but I can feel the dilemma. I never know what it is I should prioritise the level to :( Congrats to your son for all his hard work :D

Day 137 - HAD to be done.

Yup, had to re-shoot this pic, as the last one of this variety still had me with the D3100. ;) (Not that you can really tell what model it is, but this one fits the hand better)

Don't go pretending you're focusing with the hood on backwards like that!! ;)

Actually, I wasn't even thinking about "this will look like I'm focusing", it's just habit now. I was taught "THIS is how you properly hold a camera", and now I don't even think about it. :p

Wonder if it's possible to get a pic that catches the internals of the lens without creating a glare??? Hrrrmmmmm... (maybe then I'll remove the lens hood from it storage spot, LOL)
