Ponte Vecchio

Snowy and icy day here in Philly is a great time to go back and re-process old images. I went back and re-worked this image of the Ponte Vecchio in Florence (or Firenze as my Italian friends would say) made during a trip in 2009. I literally took this by hanging my camera out of a window in the Uffizi Gallery. This was one of those images that I was unhappy with after post processing with either LR2 or LR3 at the time. Since LR4 does a better job of adjusting shadows, I thought I would give it a try. I've gone back and forth with adjusting the foreground - is the river too bright?

The river looks pretty good. Could be a shade darker, maybe? Hard to tell. The only thing I would like to see it a little more detail in the building across the river. Not sure if you can pull any more out of it though.

Don, you're right about the detail. Looking at the EXIF, I should have shot it at f/8 and maybe bumped the ISO. As I described, I leaned out of a window to take the shot and really didn't have time to adjust the camera settings. Of course I was asked not to do that by security.

Snow White

Be careful how you lean . . . remember David du Chemin's experience "leaning" over a bridge in Venice?

I, too, would like to see a little more light on the buildings on the other side of the river. For me, the sky is almost too bright. I love the composition and the light on the water. I wonder if you can saturate the sky a little more?

Thanks for the feedback. . . made a quick mod with Viveza. Is this more along the line to what you were thinking?

Thanks Helene. That Viveza is a great addition to the toolkit. I hope that now that Google owns Nik that the development continues. The recent announcement regarding the end of development of the desktop version of Snapseed concerns me.
