Specially painted locomotives celebrating the USA's 250th birthday collected at the North Carolina Transportation Museum for a public event last weekend. The locomotives are now headed home to their owning railroads and four of them moved through Columbia, SC yesterday, one of which belongs to the Florida East Coast Rwy. With some Nikonites being FL residents, I thought I'd include a roster shot of FEC 250. [D5100]

Yes, it was an amazing sight and quite a challenge to await its arrival and pursue photography in 98 Deg. heat! Worth it tho. It's the kind of day that gets me thinking about an upgrade for my trusty-but-aged D5100.

Of the other locomotives, the train included Union Pacific's 1616, honoring Abraham Lincoln, 16th President.

Porto 172 - Built and operated in Porto Portugal was designed by J.G. Brill Co. of Philadelphia. It was transported to the US in 1967 and to its current owner the Rockhill Trolley Museum in Rockhill Furnace PA. It was brought to Williams grove Steam engine's show this year to give rides in this beautiful car. Note the "power" unit behind it for this event.
