About 12-13 feet long. I was on the other side of a wooden fence @Peter7100, but I think he would have been able to take it down if he wanted to.
I heard in the news recently a man had his arm bitten off by one and his wife went for help and when she returned he was gone. Can't remember which town it was but I'm sure it was somewhere in the south of the US, so take care and order that longer telephoto

I'm allergic to bees, so I watch out for them more than gators.
