A contrast in size. Big Great Horned Owl sleeping on the top of the branch, and little bitty Red-breasted Nuthatch on the bottom of the branch.

Those swallow shots are amazing, Woody - amazingly hard! Well done, really. I especially like that last one, and the one you posted in the BIF folder.

Nicely captured with the grackle images, Woody. Although colorful and striking in their appearance, they are one of my least favorite birds. Too many times they have killed sparrows at our feeder by poking holes in the sparrows' heads.

You did a great job showing details in the dark areas. :encouragement:

Wow! I would expect that from the female red-winged blackbird so am surprised to see it's a male guarding the nest. Great image, Woody. :cool:

Thanks! You know, I've been dive bombed by RWBBs many times through the years, and I think it has always been a male. They seem to act as sentries while the females tend to feeding and other nest chores. At least that's what I have observed.
