My latest bag
a "Nikon" backpack - holds the 70-200mm with camera mounted. Can squeeze in a flash or 35mm 1.8 but not much else.
Inch or two too short for the 200-500.

That looks like a nice bag to carry my setup for my son's sports. How do you like it so far?

Do you know who makes the bag or have a model number? I'll look for a version without the big ole' NIKON banner :)

DSC_0926+Kenko 2x box-0001.jpgDSC_1038+New Kenko 2X TC-0001.jpg

Bought a "Kenko 2x Teleplus Pro 300 DGX teleconverter. I bought it primarily for macro work especially with my AFD 105mm 2.8 Nikkor Micro.

I did try some shots of a PC board - but realize that for this kind of shot I really should use a tripod.
Played around with my new toy shooting an old PC board I had kicking around.

Autofocus does work - but poorly - lots of hunting.
In the box there was a notice that AF does not work with the 60mm AFS macro - which is my other macro.
But again, I'm always in manual when shooting macro.

I'll be curious to see how it works on some of my other lenses.

There were just two cardboard 'labels' attached. They use the Nikon logo, and it does say "made in China" - but no indication of any other company.

Have you ever tried extension tubes? Kenko makes a set that is compatible with Nikon bodies--they tend to be used more for macro than a teleconverter. Manual focus is better suited for macro. Can you use Live View on your body? I've found using LV and manually focusing gives me better results. Good luck and have fun! :)

I macro every which way

Kenko extension tubes - check
Magnifying filters - check
Macro (aka Nikon-speak Micro) lenses - check and check (60mm AFS and 105mm AFD)

And that macro light gizmo pictured with my latest addition the Kenko 2x T.C.
I've also played around with DIY macro light benders.

I have also used the Kenko 1.4 TC with my macro lenses.

I have a longer lens macro on my lens lust list - like the Sigma 180 - at about two grand CDN $
And I've looked longingly at the Laowa 15mm f4 Wide Angle 1:1 Macro (under $700 CDN$).

I also have fun taking shots of bugs with telephoto lenses - hard to nail it from 10 feet away with the 200-500mm lens but nice when you get it.

I really have to start buying my guitar strings on line. Last time I walked into Guitar Center to get strings, I walked out with an Ibanez acoustic.
Today I went to get some more strings I walked out with this.

They had it sitting in the used section for $129.00. Who can pass that deal up? I(I can't)

Finally found an old school Gadget Bag that can hold a decent amount of gear without carrying a suitcase over your shoulder.

Tamrac 608 Pro.
Holds: 1 SLR with normal or short zoom, 4 more lenses up to 200mm, 10-15 rolls of film, medium sized flash, plenty of AA bats, 7"-10" tablet.
$36 !!

Just bought a Nikon type F focusing screen for my Nikon F2. That's the one with the 12 mm microprism focusing spot. I think it'll help out with some of my wide-angle lenses. And possibly focusing in dimmer situations.

Wife's little dog separated her hip so surgery soon money I have saved for a D500 will have to wait :(
I hear you on that. I needed to sell my Fuji X100T so that we can make a family road trip to my sisters. It's not an emergency but we still had to make the road trip and we needed the funds for it.
