I have a confession to make.

Here's mine from a file of August 2010. As you can see, elements which are contrasty and close to the picture's border can distract quite a bit from the main subject. Once these distractions are taken out, the viewer's eyes can stay on the main subject without having to concentrate to stay focused.

This was taken during my first week with a Nikon DSLR (the D3300), and has a bunch of issues technically - flare / haze, not in focus, blown highlights. I was unable to salvage it with the Photos for MacOS app that I normally use for PP, but had better luck with Affinity Photo (billed as an affordable Photoshop alternative). I primarily used the Haze Removal filter, along with a few other tweaks for exposure, and am pleased with the result. It has a film like look to it that I doubt I can duplicate if my life depended on it :)

I'm a bit stuck between B&W and color for what I'm doing these days. I'm not really sure whether the color adds much to the overall image.

I start my tonal work in color and only after continue in B&W so both are about the same amount of work.

After cloning and removing stuff that didn't help keep the eyes on the truck. Of course, after I was finished I saw that I forgot a can of paint just by the driver's mirror... I will have to go back to it later.

The reflections in the passenger door now also start looking out of place since you cleaned up all of the background. May want to remove those, too. Otherwise, a nice pic!

Alright, so how did you remove the reflections from the door? Just clone the red without reflections from other parts of the truck?

Yes, but on it's own new layer. This way I was able to reduce the opacity just enough to see the reflexion but without the distraction of the too bright side. I tried to fill the reflexion at 100% but I thought it didn't look as natural. And I also removed what could be seen through the back and side window of the truck + the spray paint can that I could see on the right the driver's mirror.
