Purchased a Sigma 120-300mm f2.8 DG

This does not have VR, but it came with a monopod, 1.4x Sigma Teleconverter, lens hood, UV filter and a lens case. Can't beat that with a stick. If I decide to upgrade, and I probably will eventually, my brother will take it. It seems to function well. When mounted, it does not fit snuggly. You can rotate the camera back and forth a little. This does not seem to affect the focus.
I have a few days to decide if I want to keep it or let my brother buy it. I think I would prefer a VR lens, but this will give me a chance to try out using a large lens with very little invested compared to other lenses.

Do you know how DAMN HARD I have been looking for one of these lenses !! I used one when I went to shoot the F1 and I took it out on a portrait shoot (it was the VR version) and I have been looking for 2 months for a used one to come up for me to buy but I can only find Canon versions !!

If you were in the UK and didnt want it I would snap your hand off to buy it off you lol

Really, people hold on to them, huh?
I got this by luck. A photographer buddy of my Dad's is downsizing. He just happened to mention it to me when we were discussing bird photography. Go figure, I am trying it out, and my D300 started acting up. It is acting kind of like my D100 did before it bit the dust. So, I put my D80 on it this afternoon. I didn't want to take the lens out in the world until I kind of got used to handling it on the tripod. I need to see how it performs with the D80 on it.

Out with the old - as in 25+ years of reliable service

In with the new ...

If it last another 25 years I won't be buying another one.

....

It is not a D500 but it cuts the lawn in half the time - leaving more time for photography so it is a good thing.

Been wanting a variable ND filter to replace all my cheap (bad quality) nd filters so I got a Singh-Ray77mm Vari-ND Variable Neutral Density Filter today and shot waterfalls with it. It is fantastic

I like that camera. All of the important (basic) controls are right where they "should be", if you are an old film person.

edit: did that hot shoe protector come free with the camera? ;)

Share some details! It looks amazing and I know (in basic) what it is, but brand, etc?

Apologies, I guess I should have given more into but I was too excited !!

Its the Rotolight Aeos :)

Its an LED that also strobes. It and its bigger brother the Anova Pro are the only flashes that have ZERO recycle time meaning you will never miss a shot.

It also has Kelvin for colour accuracy, it will also fire at the temp that you choose :)

Its also HSS !!

Basically it is going to replace my Godox 600BM, this is about 60% of the power or a 600BM so it will pretty much fit all of the uses that I use at the moment, I may need to add a diffuser between the subject and the sun if its a super bright day :)
