Originally taken just for the 12800 iso test, I noticed how my cat was reacting to the elections results last night...

Souvenirs that are left from my dad's second world war participation.

Thanks to all veterans for all we have today we wouldn't if it hadn't been for you. I salute your courage and involvement.

Our local photo club has a challenge that consist of pinhole photography. After many trials, I've gotten a few shots that I might be able to present 2 weeks from now. We are allowed to enter 2 pictures. My first trials were not very successful because my pinhole was a bit too big... I thought it was way too soft although other members were getting even worse. I was getting 1/2 sec exposure at iso 640.

Then I made myself another and thought this subject would look OK even if not as sharp as we are used to with modern lenses. Now 18 sec at iso 800.

There has to be something pretty satisfying about getting a photo using the most primitive of capture techniques. Especially like the still life. What is the diameter of you pinhole?

I have no idea, a pinhole is what it is. But I used the aluminium of a soda pop can to do the hole. I tried with aluminium foil but the pin was going through too deeply.

Well Drilled a 1/16 inch hole in a camera cover, .061 thousands of an inch but have not gotten a good result. Maybe I will try a smaller hole.

The hole in the camera cap has to be quite larger because of it's thickness. I drilled a 1/8th hole and then taped a piece of aluminium over the hole. That's where I put the needle barely going through the aluminium's thickness. Smaller hole will get sharper images but they will never be as sharp as with a lens. I have tried different sizes and then my results started to be better. So I'm now sticking to the size I have.

I did put the aluminium on the outside of the cap since when inside it reflects too much light and contribute to even more out of focus flare kind of images.

And remember, it's not a lens cap that you'll be working with, but the body cap (no lens).

We had a member do the pierced lens cap and it wasn't nice to see.

Thanks Marcel, I will give that a try. I t is a body cap that I drilled and I must have some aluminum tape somewhere.

For those who have been around here for a while you might remember my "piano person's book" project. Well, my book it on it's way. I've had 2 preliminary copies so I can go around and see if I can get it published. So here's the preview, just for all who encouraged me on this forum to keep up the work.

Today's pic is about the river that runs by my street. I didn't want to do the moon since I don't have a long enough lens and everyone I know was doing the moon. So the river it is today as the sunset really was spectacular. Df 24-120.

Well I received my Piano people book today. I'm simply amazed at the printing quality that AppleBooks did. Seeing all my work laid out together in a book almost made me cry. I was literally moved my own work. Seeing it in a printed book gave me a feeling of achievement that I hadn't felt for a long time.

I've been putting up pictures on the net on different forums for a while, but printed work has a different value. It's real, it exists, you can touch it. And when I pass away, my children will have something left of my work. I don't think they could dig around my hard drives and know what is valuable and what's not. So for me putting my work in a book is now making more sense than before.

I'm really glad this is done. Now the hard part will be promoting it and trying to make a bit of money with it.

For those of you that never had a photo book done, give it a try and you'll see what I mean.

Congrats on accomplishing such a huge project! So why did you choose Apple Books for your printing? To be honest, I didn't even know they offered that type of service.
