Well now I am officially the renter of an apartment all my own so to speak! Rent paid and electricity is now in my name! All that is left of the initial red tape, is to check off a list of the apartment's current condition, in case anything needs fixed and so any defects will be noted so I don't get charged out of my security deposit for something I didn't cause if/or when I go to move.
So it will soon be time to start the moving stuff over to the apartment, and I will have to wait until the 14th for the cable, phone, and wifi/ internet hooked up. So if they shut off the cable, phone and Internet here before then I will be off line until the 14th. I can't justify continuing payment on the cable and stuff here, when I have so little money and I need to save money if and/or when possible.

But so far so good right now with everything. Though I have been getting calls for my wife from Time Warner cable, and suspect I will lose my cable, phone and internet
soon.

I hope you have a smooth move and everything goes well.

Today with help I got the first load of possessions moved to my new apartment(hopefully to become my home). Then delt with a load of grief for the loss of my beloved wife. But I am trying very hard to think on this move as a positive thing, even though it is hard to leave my wife's and my home together.

I'm not getting any money saved, since I had to pay deposits on electricity and my cable, phone and Internet package. I'm hoping I won't run short, having spent nearly my whole month's income so close to the beginning of the month.

Well tomorrow I need to line up another load for my apartment. I am thinking of taking before and after photos of the apartment since it is not the best looking place and I am bound to improve it's looks filled with my things. I will think on it, and may likely do that idea.:)
I just need to cover needed tasks done, and not missed due to being absorbed in taking photos. Some for safety and to protect from theft, due to busted window locks/latches.

You need to have your landlord fix those locks right away. In the meantime, this is in fact the first day of the rest of your life and I know you will find the strength to move into the future. Please do not neglect your photography. Creating good images can take you out of your troubles and allow you to do positive things.

I took over to the apartment another window lock. But it was too dark in the living room without a lamp, since it doesn't seem to have a regular over head light, for me to remove the old and install the new one. I don't want to wait for the fix it guy to show up, since I have stuff in the apartment now.

Thank you very much for your faith in me my friend.:) I will try to keep at my photography too, and get some wide angle shots of my apartment if I can take some worth posting.:)

I don't know if I already mentioned it, but my cameras won't be moved until I move the bed to start sleeping in my new apartment. I am very very protective of my Nikon's and lenses and photography gear. I am determined to keep my promise to my beloved wife, about continuing as best as I can in my photography. She was so supportive and my biggest fan loving all my photos, and never wanted to hear that anybody was better. So I plan to continue to work at improving my work, slowly maybe, but surely. Well I will keep trying to.:)

Anyway my gear is not likely replaceable, so protecting my kit is a really big deal. I am going to look into insurance, though I'm not sure I can afford it until my truck is paid off. After a couple months I will have a better idea of what money I'll have to work with. Also I need extra gas if I can to try to go out more for different photo subjects like landscapes.

Well one thing at a time, and patience is something I really need to get better at.lol :)

Today was mostly spent recovering from moving a load of my treasures yesterday(I did have some help thanks to my friend Matt). @hark Cindy my friend I did call the management people about the broken window latch as you suggested! They said their fix it guy was busy and might not be able to get to it today, but they said it was OK if I wanted to try and fix it myself to speed things up. So today I fixed it by replacing the latch, after getting the old one off that was painted over several times making the flat head slot filled in with hardened paint.lol :)
I was also able to move a few light things over to the apartment, though I am hurting more than normal from yesterday's moving.:)
@RON I am trying to find the strength as you said to get through this both physically and emotionally my friend, though some times it can be a pretty hard thing to do.:)

Anyway another day successfully finishing up with something done to show for it, and hopefully I will manage to keep doing some everyday till it is all done!:D

Hey my friends!:)
Well as I move stuff around and get things ready to move, I am worrying a bit about my photography gear being at possible risk. So I am trying to decide which risk is most likely to happen between damage as I am moving things, or the theft of my gear if I move it to the apartment ahead of when I planned.
If I move my gear completely out of any room I'm moving stuff around in, then the risk will be minimum though moving them around does add to my work load.
If I don't advertise I am moving very expensive camera gear into the apartment, then the risk will be minimum and less work, but maybe a bit more worrisome.

Well in a couple hours, I will try figure out which way to go and I would happily listen to any suggestions, if anyone reads this before I leave with another small load.:)

Hi Bill,

Do you have any friends who live locally that you would trust to look after your photographic gear; so that you could leave it with them whilst you are in the process of moving?

Don't overdo things in the early days of moving or you struggle further down the line:fatigue:.

All the best,
Stephen

My advice is to keep your photography gear where ever you are residing. Just put it out of the way until you are ready to relocate it. Once you start staying at the apartment, move your gear.

I have a couple friends I would trust, but I would be afraid they might not take as good of care as I would since they are not into photography as I am. Besides they both have kids which would worry me to death. I am picturing in my mind a child with messy sticky hands trying to see what made the clicking sound inside my precious Nikon's! It gives me the shivers of horror just thinking about it.lol

Yes I am trying not to over do too much now, and I know I need to have patience enough to wait for help from my friends when moving the bigger/heavier things, especially furniture and appliances.:)

Thank you very much for the suggestions!:D

This is what I am leaning towards doing. Thank you very much for your advice! :)

Since you are already familiar with the safety around your house, I'd suggest keeping it there until the move is done. And when you do move your gear, try to do it when there are as few people around as possible--at least that's what I'd do.

Bill, you should take photos or video of the apartment and save it. Use your camera phone since your Nikons are packed away. It will be handy if there are any disputes on your deposit if/when you move.

Good luck on your new adventure.

Hmmm.... Yes I don't think I will have any trouble moving them without much chance of being noticed. I have been to the apartment several times without seeing anybody watching what I was doing, and I only saw people at all once and they couldn't see me till I was driving away.:)
Thanks for the advice Cindy!:D

To be honest, I know I should do this, but I likely won't. This place is ran on the cheap, and I plan to stay and even renewing the lease every year to help prevent the landlord from being able to just make me move for no reason. So even if I did record the photos or videos I would likely lose them(knowing me lol) or forget where I put them after that long.
But I admit you are smarter than I am, and I could be making a big mistake.

I'm likely just going to fill out the list I was given, and hope things work out.

But I may dig out a camera to take some before and after shots to post here, just thinking about it. So maybe I will be smart, but no promises.lol :)

Not smarter, just watch a lot of Judge Judy and People's Court. That's the first thing the judge asks for, proof of how the apt looked before and after.

So have I, and after seeing all of those court shows I still tend to ignore what I know.

So see, you are smarter than me!lol ;)
