Circle B Bar Reserve Feb 2016 Meet 'n Greet

Don Kuykendall: How was that experience and who did you rent from?

Borrow lenses. They were great to deal with. The lens is pretty good but I think I needed more practice with it before I went on the shoot. I think I will rent the Nikon 200-500 the next time. From the photos I saw I think it might be a tad sharper.

I think the Tamron could be sharper than what I shot with a little more practice on my part. I think a lens of this length has a learning curve that I did not have time to learn. I have seen some great photos with the 150-600. I really want to rent the Nikon 200-500 some time and see for myself which is more suited to me.

One thing that I have learned on this outing is that I must be more careful of things blocking my shots.
For example, I threw out a lot of really good shots because leaves or tall blades of vegetation blocked parts of the subject. I have some really nice Egret shots with really nice light shining on the bird, and a blade of grass is running down the middle of the shot.

I must be mindful of these things, instead of just being over excited about all these birds I get to shoot. Next time I go, I will act like I've been there before.:)

I finally figured out that I walked about 5 miles that day according to my GPS tracks app. That is about 3.5 miles past my limit. It guess that is why my legs and back were so sore for several days.

Wow. The most I remember walking after the age of 35 is about 3 miles on a treadmill
