I have not had that problem. Mine sleeps just fine. Have not really checked what mode I have it is though. May just be the monitor shutting off. On different computer right now but will check next time I am on the laptop

My build doesn't give me an option for hibernate. When I went to settings, it won't allow me to click on the hibernate button. Hope that explains it better, Don.

Grrr...this is going to get tiring very quickly. And there is the icon in the system tray yet again even though I hid it from view on the first day. It appears every time the computer is turned on.

Same thing for me. Seeing as Don has already been using a "Beta" version, perhaps that is why he does not have it.

I like it a lot more than 8 and even better then 8.1. Cleaner interface and a real start menu that you don't have to use a third party app to create I think it is a little faster also.

I looked around in settings and I think there is a way to turn that off. Not really sure as I was looking for something else. Poke around a bit and play.

I went to RUN and typed in msconfig to bring up my start up programs figuring it was installed somehow during my last Windows update. Nothing out of the ordinary showed up so I changed my Windows Update to 'Never' thinking it would turn off the notification. I restarted my computer, but it is still there. All I can do is to turn it off each time the computer starts.

I have to clean my iMac's screen all of the time because my wife and children (all adults or nearly so) can't keep their fingers off of the screen. I could only imagine how it would be with a real touch screen!!

WM

Occasionally I will be showing something to my wife or kids on my laptop and they will go to point at something on the screen and activate a link or something and off it goes. I get to slap their hands at that point.

I was using the Technical Preview until my PC packed up and it is incredibly stable. Not one crash in 3 months. I'm awaiting a new Windows PC and will update immediately. Presently using Linux which is brilliant but I miss Photoshop.

I must admit being a windows 7 person windows 8 was a big let down for me, first day I brought my brand new laptop I wiped off 8 and installed 7, so I was a bit sceptical when installing windows 10, pretty good so far and very fast on an SSD

I think Microsoft learned a lesson with the last couple of Windows versions and got such a backlash from so many customers that they finally listened and changed back to what people wanted and also learned that backward compatibility to the extent they were doing was really hurting them and the users. Better to get everyone onboard with one system and keep people together. Safer and faster for everyone. Only a couple of years from now I think we will see software that will only work with the up to date windows platform. I think a lot of people will be very unhappy with MS over this but in the long run I think it will get MS back to where it really needs to be. A safe, fast and secure OS.

What they figured out is that sales of OS is mainly to manufacturers when they make/sell new computers and that very few people ever upgraded after they bought a computer. Also having to write each OS/Program to be backward compatible is expensive and also creates a lot of bloat. With Windows 10 they will automatically update all systems with each update. They really are not going to give you a choice on that. Again, makes it easier to keep everyone on the same system. IN THEORY it is a good way to do business and should be better for software writers to make cleaner/faster programs.

Microsoft has been known to create bad updates. Now you will get the updates automatically. Brand new OS's are going to be buggy. I do not care if it is free. I see headaches with this ...

Does anyone who is running 10 get a memory error message when shutting down? Every shutdown here receives the same memory error.

Its do do with the shell menu, if you click the windows start button to bring up the shell menu then choose power - shutdown, most times it will bring the memory error message up, if you just right click on the windows start button - shutdown or sign out, shutdown, that way it should avoid the error
