How big are these guys??? I only ever see the small lizards in Florida
Are the Iguanas natural to Florida???
This is a Basilisk (aka Jesus Lizard) Kevin. They not native to FL and have been increasing in number over the last few years. This guy is about 1.5 feet. There is one larger in Wako and I haven't seen that one in about six months.
Pets that people let go and now their multiplying??Same for the Iguanas, not native to FL but increasing in population. There is a five footer somewhere at Wako. Haven't seen that one in about a year. I've seen lots of small ones and at least one four footer in the last couple of weeks.
Pets that people let go and now their multiplying??
A lot of our wildlife starts that way. Also, I heard on the radio a long time ago, we have armadillos in FL because a circus vehicle crashed back in the 1920's or 1930's and about twenty of them escaped. We have Egyptian Geese in the wild thanks to Hurricane Andrew in 2010 when the Miami-Dade Zoo got destroyed. Same for plants - everything thrives in FL.
