Thanks @Eyelight - it's close but not quite what I was trying to bring out. Not sure if it is the composition (which I suspect with all the bush on the side) or the processing.

Yesterday on my way back from New Plymouth I ambled. Calling in at virtually every little beach and tourist site for a photo opportunity.
For this photo I am far too embarrassed to tell you how far out of my way it was! However if you don't go you will never know.
Access to the falls was limited to a viewing platform. Quite a spectacular waterfall and I would like to see it when it is in full flow.



The part that looked really dramatic is where the water cuts through the rock before plummeting over the edge.

Brad they come in a variety of colours depending on the sub species and also the environment.

I used the on camera flash as is with no diffuser.
It was sitting on a car bonnet that had a million specs of dust - nit sure how the processing to eliminate them came out.

I'm not terribly fond of blurry bodied critters, but that particular shot is somewhat unique, and I am very fond of unique.

Lawrence this is great you have nailed the focus and the composition is great, I normally just use the spot removal tool to get rid of any dust specs etc.

I'm having fun learning what the NIK tools have to offer.
I could have done this photo in any of a number of interesting ways but I set out to try something along the soft focus lines and stuck to my plan. Might go back and do some of the other more artistic stuff.

It is amazing what can be achieved with them, I have watched a few tube videos the last few days. I have been only barely scratching the surface. So much to learn.
