Raining & Cold outside today. Also semi recovering from yesterday. I thought I would just throw a few large North Carolina pinecones together with a golfball. The golfball was found in our backyard near the cones, but not a good place to shoot a picture. Just wanted to demonstrate the size of the ball to the cones. They were nicely formed cones, and in good shape without being mangled. I tried flash, but liked this picture better without the flash. Got a little grainy, and in retrospect, I should have tripoded it and gone for a longer shutter speed. Live and learn, but it turned out ok I guess.

Here's a relic from the past. It looks like it's an old tobacco drying barn. They would pick the tobacco and then hang it upside down to dry and let the juice from the plant settle in the leaves. It's no longer being used for that, but I thought it looked cool. Pretty old and just sitting there in the woods.

Driving down by the lake I happened upon these goats....got out of the car and they came running up to me baaah !! baaaah! I figured a picture wouldn't hurt them so I took a few.

Decided to drive into Umstead State Park. I had never been there before, and I saw this little stream inching through the woods. I figured I'd capture it, and try to bring out some highlights of it. It has been raining a lot lately and that accounts for the muddy waters. It was a very calming area and no one else around. I'll have to go back one day.

No critters. Ever since they clear cut and developed the land where J&H Stables used to be on Ebenezer Church Road, there are far fewer deer than years ago.

There are some interesting photography groups on Raleigh Meet-Up. I've been thinking about going to some.

Our dog, Caesar, and Mrs. Buffalo were curled up on the couch asleep. I decided to get a picture of their favorite position. Caesar is a momma's boy on the couch, but he climbs up on me in the chair quite a bit too. He's a very friendly dog and loves people. We just gave him a bath, and as soon as it gets warm, he's due for a good clipping.
