Its been another day of struggling to find something to shoot. It was really bright all day and then when it got cooler my mojo was dead. I shall probably keep posting junk until 12/31

Yay! A much more productive day for me. Went for a walk down by the river and met Judith and Lily. Lily's hat was just the appendage needed for a great couple of photos of a very pretty lass who was amazingly outgoing and mum was more than happy for me to snap away.
It also meant I had the opportunity to try my 90mm Tamron macro for portrait which is what I really want it for.
Still room for improvement and I am hoping I can get Lily as a model. She is so cute.

Looking at them here they may be a touch over sharpened. Will revisit these and about 20 more!

When the going get's tough, the tough get going and Lawrence can't!
Oh inspiration thou has forsaken me!

First shot today is called "Ducks in a row" - they got to far away from the pier too quickly. Put another was I was simply too slow.
The second was a tree that had striking cream flowers that looked like the leaves. All against a darker green backdrop. Didn't capture what I hoped so converted to B&W

Gave a golf lesson this morning and took a few snaps of the student to show her how much she has improved. A ways to go yet but the difference from when she started a month ago to now is amazing.
This is a shot of her follow through.

Tried something today which I can't recall trying before - shooting insects with my 70-300mm at 300mm. Just to see how sharp the photos came out.
I was quite impressed but probably won't try it again unless forced to.

I also tried out my macro lens and suspect that there is something wrong with the focus. Not sure if it is my eyes but it looks to me like the DOF runs diagonally across the image rather than horizontally. I also suspect it is focusing in front of where I am trying to focus. Here are a couple of examples.
Any input welcome.

I like the finish with the feet, but her arms should be a bit more extended. (this is from a guy who broke a hundred only once, and made 1 birdie in his entire life):(

I like the shots of Lily. I am in awe of you asking to shoot people. Even if they make the offer, I still can't do it. I hope you get to shoot Lily again anyway as she certainly looks to be one happy little girl, and I'm sure you could capture that nicely :D

She was a dream and mum has ordered 3 photos to be block mounted so I made some pocket money! :)

Oh those Lily images are really good (but so are the rest :)). Let us know what her mom thinks.

Hi Mai. Mother loved them and has ordered three to be mounted plus wants me to shoot her again when weather permits. Won't charge her for the extra shoot in the hope that she may order more and more importantly tell her friends. I remember when we had little ones we tended to circulate with others who had the same age kids.

But in any case Lily is an awesome little girl to shoot.

Great! You should pick up the prints yourself (if you are managing that), so you see how it looks in real life. If possible.

So cool you just picked up some costumers on a walk :-D

I have them delivered to me and then either take them to the client if they live close by or get them to pick them up.
Yes it is fun to know that you may get paid for a photo walk. :)

They look good, DOF is a funny thing and if you are not level the DOF line will not be horizontal. Do not worry about this, I would advise using manual focus and see how you go with that.
