Well worth a visit. Best in summer when they do the "tours" and you can go up and/or down in one of their boats.I live in Cheshire but have never been to see this amazing machine. Must go.
Leawood Pumping Station - built in 1849 to pump water into a canal from the river almost 50 feet below. Typical of its day the building was functional and quite elegant... the windows in the building all are arched as in this photo.![]()
And the "business end" - the beam was accessible by climbing up some very steep and narrow steps...

Its really great to see old things like this restored and maintained and working from time to time.
Back in June, my employer sent me to Vienna, Austria for work. Although I took my camera, I didn't have a lot of extra time for sightseeing, and since my wife wasn't with me I wasn't really going to be able to stay for a lot of extra time and play tourist. Here are two of my favorites from the trip, both of Schloss Schonnbrunn.

I like the second one more due to the shadows in the first one, but sometimes we have to play the cards we're dealt. Also, just now I noticed the distortion in the lens is MUCH more apparent in the first picture than the second. They were both taken with the Tokina 11-16 at 11 mm on my D7000. Odd. (I hadn't put them side by side before.) I just love the beautiful skies above. It was a great trip.
If you have some type of post processing software, you should be able to adjust the perspective on the first building like I did here. And I removed some of the shadows and added a little contrast. When you use the perspective correction option, it will crop your photo some so you need to allow extra room while taking the photo.
