Dropped a bit of coin today. Logging off to let the embers on my debit card cool down a bit:
  • Nikon D800
  • Nikon MB-D12 Grip
  • Extra Battery
  • Nikon SB-910 Flash
  • LCD protector
  • 32GB CF card
  • Westcott Apollo 28

It finally came yesterday! The D610, and full frame. Don't worry, I won't be looking back! I have to try it with my FX lenses. I've only taken one shot, and that was with the 50mm f/1.8. I spent most of last night setting it up. Does anyone know if the battery should have a Nikon logo hologram on it? Mine just says EN-EL 15, but no hologram like some of the Nikon batteries I have ordered in the past. The camera did come with the yellow USA warranty certificate, and the box has the 'U' above the bar code which designates it as being a USA model for warranty purposes. I think I will call Nikon support this morning and make sure by running the serial number by them to ensure that's the case. I'll also ask them about the battery. If any of you know the answers to my question about the battery, please let me know. Thanks!

First impressions: well, the strap seems like it has gotten thinner than my D7100 strap, and has a rubberized coating on the backside. It seems a little chincy for a camera that costs so much. I do like the LCD plastic screen protector. I have flipped through the menu's and they seem very similar to the D7100. I am still looking for the menu that lets you turn the FX into a DX just in case I ever need to use it. Other than that, it handles just like the D7100. After I take some pictures with the new lenses I bought, I'll let you know what I think of IQ versus the D7100.

I decided to get something a bit smaller then my Lowepro 302AW. It's a great pack. But I wanted something a touch smaller and could hold my laptop as well. So after researching some more I bought the Lowepro Fastpack 250 Backpack. If this fits my needs as I expect it will. Then I'll sell my 302AW to cover some of the cost of my new pack.

I just bought a Case Logic for my vacation next week, specifically to carry the laptop and the camera. The Lowepro is a very nice looking bag though! Almost wish I had seen that one first. ;)

You can't beat Lowepro for their service support and lifetime warranty. I have had one for ten years that has gone through a lot and still hanging in there. This one will be for our vacation next month. 2 weeks in Maine.
