Spotted this soft shell turtle on yesterdays bike ride. She was looking pretty worn and dry. She had to have crossed two lanes of traffic to get where she was.
Only had half a bottle of water, but I shared it with her.
Chris didn't notice I stopped until two miles later. I caught up with him when he turned back to look for me. We went back to help her get back to the pond and she was gone. We searched and could not find her, but did find a spot where we believe she laid eggs. We'll be watching that spot.

When we lived in West Palm, we'd go to Juno Beach at night and watch the turtles come in and lay their eggs. I had a red filter on my light so it didn't scare them, and it was amazing to watch them build their nests and drop their eggs. We saw the loggerheards and Leatherbacks....big ole turtles....miss that a lot. We spent many nights walking the beach watching the turtles. This is the season right now!
Lucky you. there is a place here that will lock the gate at 8 and if you are still there have a nice night. :sour:
The guard had already locked the gate at 7pm, then walked around to kick people out. He then opened the gate and told us it would be locked at 7:30 again and wouldn't be opened until morning. Each guard is different. The night before, they didn't kick anyone out until 7:45.

I am taking a wild guess here and would say the one on the right is the female???
I'm just going by the clue of the one on the right has it's mouth open and the one on the left has that bewilder, what did I do wrong look, on it's face.
