Layer blend modes. I will have to look into this--something else with which I am not familiar! Thanks for taking the time to explain! :cool:

If you do, get yourself an RF shutter remote too. It makes things a lot easier. Do I lose points if I was in a comfy chair with a cigar instead of holding that camera up and waiting? LOL

Now why didn't I think of this...;) I actually did but was just too darn lazy to get the tripod up and make the setup. I'll wait for nice bright light and will do.

Revisited an old shot from a couple months ago in an attempt to try something else for a "symmetry" shot. Raised the flashes a bit and kept the color this time.

hard to believe that Hummingbird shot was at 1/1000 and still didn't completely stop the wings of the bird. I love the image, but I thought at that shutter, it would've stopped that creatures wings completely. Good call on settings for that shot.

Not a chance. You need 1/1600 to freeze the wings, which I didn't remember until after seeing this shot. It was a little cloudy, so I didn't crank the shutter right away even though I'm OK with ISO 6400. Here's one at 1/1600. Not as good a shot, but it shows those powerful little wings.

I prefer this one as it has the view from a player's perspective although I'd rather see it as a horizontal photo instead of vertical. The reason being while playing the game, the board is set upon a table that quite often allows more space on the sides of the board but not as much space between the player and the board--if that makes any sense.

I like the perspective too, but the more I look at it the more I realize that I missed being dead center with the camera. Note to self, next time prop up the far edge of the board a bit so you don't feel like you're falling forward when you go to take the photo. LOL

Nice of you to share your hummingbird set up. I heard the first buzz overhead yesterday morning and hung my feeders but all last year I struggled because my feeder is about 50ft away. I will have to slowly see if I can creep a little closer. You have such great images and I really appreciate your taking the time and showing us your set ups :)

Our birds must be used to us. I was standing on the deck with my head 3-4 ft. from the feeder and my wife was on the other side, when a hummingbird zipped up between us, hovered between me and the feeder, and then parked it on the edge drinking for 5-10 seconds. Absolutely surreal. They don't even mind the sound of the shutter, which seemed to bother them in years past. Perhaps as nesting begins their behavior will be different.

It's a very odd thing, but when I stick a square crop tool around it it's fine.

I checked and it does have a touch of pincushion. I thought I'd corrected that, but perhaps not.

Yes, it's the Distortion slider in LR/ACR. It warps in and out from the center and would be more circular than skewed. The original LR correction should have fixed it, but apparently not. C'est la vie!!
