Very nice! I think in some city's it's elegal to stand on the median.... Not sure though! That just goes to show that sometimes you need to go the extra mile, get dirty, get wet, etc to get the shot!

Funny you should say that, because a cop did stop and ask us what we were doing. we explained it to him, even showed him some of what we had already taken. He advised us to be careful and went on his way.

And you are absolutely right. Sometimes you gotta do that extra bit of work. I'm not adverse to getting dirty, wet, bending/breaking rules, or doing a spot of light trespassing to get what I"m looking for! ;)

Admittedly, I was really lazy today. Ended up doing a loop of the alleys on the block taking shots. Didn't come up with much, but it was enough.

This shot presents (to me) a pretty good argument against HDR. This is one shot using nothing but LR5 to process it. If I did HDR, I probably wouldn't want it to look much more cooked than this.

No idea why I like this one. I just do.

man I had fallen behind but what great shots to have to catch up on.
I like them all!
And I need to learn some of that tone mapping.

I am so glad you did NOT rule of thirds this photo to death. I rather like it too.

Thanks man! I liked the way it looked better with the window centered. I only loosely follow the rule of thirds anyways. I just do what looks right to me.

Thanks! I've been trying to take it up a notch and I think I'm doing pretty well.

Tone mapping in LR is really easy. On that church shot, I just use the brush to up the exposure in the shadows, then used it to add contrast and clarity as well as lessen the exposure by about .4 in the sky. Makes the sky really pop and the church is nicely lit. I can't bring out the detail in the really dark shadows too much because it just makes a mess of the quality in that area, but I don't do it that much anyway. I like it to look mostly natural but somewhat idealized. When I tone map, that's the effect I go for.

I love the shots of the old farm shed :D and that window....it just has that something!! :D

Thank you Vixen! I am really pleased with how those farm shots turned out. I kind of want to make big prints of the first and third shots.

I bought myself a 4 stop ND filter on Saturday, so I hope I get the chance to use that soon. Also, judging by the current weather, tonight looks very promising for some star photography. If it works out to be clear enough, I have a really, really cool idea planned out. :D

I also went out to a really dark spot to shoot the eclipse. Didn't get a super clear shot of the actual red moon, but close enough!

Glad to see your day didn't go completely adrift.

You and me both man!

Great red moon shot
We have been clouded over.

Glad you like it, because I think it looks like garbage hahaha! I did a re-edit, it's over in the "Blood Moon shots" thread. Still looks like garbage compared to other people's

awwwwwww... I just LOVE this shot. So cute :D

Thanks! He's a very photogenic little guy, and he really likes the camera. A bit more vicious in real life though... If you think puppy teeth are sharp...

Alrighty, today was a lot more productive (photographically) than yesterday. My throat feels a lot better. We are getting some cool looking weather, so I used the opportunity to head out and do some landscapes. Pretty pleased with the results.
