Ha, that car are pretty cool.

Old Studebaker.

Here's one from yesterday from a wildlife sanctuary, so it doesn't fit with the theme. Got very fortunate as I was following the blue bird and shooting while it ran when the Egret came into the shot.

I remember seeing this car when I was young... tells you a lot about me doesn't it :), but can't remember what it is. Was it a Studebaker? It looks like the inspiration for the recently deceased GM Soltice.

It is, indeed, a Studebaker, Marcel. This one had a white convertible top. Perfect little Florida car. Every time I walked past it some old guy was taking a picture. Tells you something about me as well. :)

Love the birds but find that shrub's reflection a bit of a distraction … just me.

Some things can't be helped. I'm in FL for a wedding and family stuff, with no intention of shooting wildlife, so when the Mrs. decides to take a ride through a nature preserve and all I have is a D600 and a 70-200mm you go with what you've got. The shot I was going for actually had the blue bird framed with the plant, but the Egret startled it and it moved left. Definitely not NatGeo worthy, but hey, I'm not Steve Winter. ;)

I'm out!!

It was inevitable, but after a long day of getting out of a hotel, into a plane, out of a plane, back into a plane, over a storm... you get the idea. Anyway, I could have whipped the camera out and shot something meaningless to keep the streak going, or done the backhanded thing and pre-/post-dated another shot and justified it as "fair" to myself because I shot almost 1000 photos last week, or even squeezed off an iPhone photo in the airport, but I've decided that's not what I want from this. Yes, it's wonderful to push yourself to shoot every day, and if you can you should be rewarded. But some days down time is completely necessary, and it was yesterday.

So, I'm out of the competition, but I'm going to shoot for 364, or something close to that. The thread has been good for me, so I'll keep going even if I've saved jdeg $50. :)

I am sorry to hear this, but you've done a remarkable job! It must be extremely difficult to take an impressive shot everyday, and like you said, you could take just ANY shot to make it through the day. But people who do that tend to sacrifice quality for quantity, and knowing you, it isn't worth lowering yourself just to earn the money and recognition. You will gain more in the long run. ;)

As always, I look forward to your next shot! :)

The weird thing is that I've surrounded myselves with some props (e.g. chess pieces) in anticipation of days with little time to shoot that would have made taking a shot fairly easy. But the truth is I just needed to acknowledge there are days where it's OK to not squeeze off a photo because I utterly lack the desire to do it. I came into this challenge thinking, "This will be good to try", and not saying, "I'm really commiting myself to do this", and it's inspired me to come up with things I never would have thought to shoot. So for me, it's been a success, and will continue on simply because it stretches me to look everyday for something. The carrot at the end was never the reason I started, so there's no reason to feel like as if not going 365 is by any means a "failure" - in fact, it's quite the opposite. And should be for anyone who's still posting, provided it's a vehicle for growth and not just a catalog of a year's worth of snapshots.

Seems I took a 3 day hiatus. Transitioning from vacation back to work often leaves little time, and with the streak broken I figured this would be a small vacation away from the project. I'm hoping to have something started again today.
