I was extremely disappointed in myself for not doing an end around to get to the sunny side of both as there were some wonderful shots involving snow and the train tracks that are still there. Alas, the snow is still thigh deep in sections and this was an unplanned stop so I didn't have boots on. I made it 1/4 of the way around before realizing that I'd have as much snow in my shoe as out by the time I got to where I wanted to go, and then I'd have to go back. I may head back this week since it's only about 5 miles from me.

To save you all from more animal shots, my day has been spent in my office, finishing a work project and hoping I'm not coming down with a cold. I did manage to raise a camera and squeeze the trigger if only to move forward one more day on this journey.

This is what I stare at when work gets me cross-eyed. It can be debated that the guitar pictured is potentially the most recorded guitar in history, once belonging to studio guitar legend Tommy Tedesco. Leo Fender got it right straight out of the box and the world has been trying to catch up ever since.

Here's a little bit of ... Just got back from dinner with a friend and I'm so freakin' tired - holy crap I didn't take any pictures today grab the camera and squeeze off one frame of, "Take that all you guys who complain about high ISO noise, this is what ISO 6400 looks like straight out of a real camera, with absolutely no noise reduction!!", nonsense.

I stared over my shoulder most of the day at my studio lights in the room across the hall, hoping to get to something I need to do, but alas the only shots I fired today were during snow flurries this morning as our new "pet" braved the cold. Yes, more animal shots.

Those are seed pots from weeds on her side, btw, nothing to worry about.

Like the "pet" shots today. Has he/she gotten used to you now? Not running away as soon as you appear?

She roams off at a distance. Last night she came up on the deck in the dark and poked around while we were clearly visible 5 feet away at the table eating dinner. When she hears a door she looks up and waits to see what's up. She was on the deck again this morning for about an hour since we tossed seed out for the birds ... and her. She saw me at the window as she came up and while she hesitated she came on up anyway. No real desire to tame her that much, but she seems to be a loner from the rest who travel together, so we take a little pity on her.

time to start buying your bird food by the bale. :)

You think we don't?! We keep 2 metal trash cans full in the shed, one sunflower and one millet, and buy it in 40 & 50 lb. bags when it's on sale. Then there's the thistle and suet. I suspect they get a DX lens' worth of feed a year, but we enjoy the snot out of them.

sorry about my wording. Seeds are ok for the birds a bale of hay would be better for the deer was my thought. I get cracked corn and wheat in 50 lb bags mix in millet and sunflower seeds, i suspect it is more than a dx lens worth in a year. For me it is worth it, in the early summer when the quail show up with their chicks i am a happy feeder.

We're not really looking to attract them. They've got a huge open field behind us to pick at, so we feed the birds and if they glom on so be it. We fed them the first year we were here and they subsequently devastated our landscaping, so we don't encourage it.

2014-058: (oops - seems I had my count off a day with two 054's)

Since I was one day away from the end of the month and I had no "Urban and Architecture" photos to speak of, I took a drive to Lafayette College in Easton to see what I could come up with.

Got stuck out in the cold with only the 16-35mm and 15mm Fisheye with me, so I'm extremely thankful for the new Perspective Correction tool in Photoshop CC.

2014-059:

I am officially declaring Fridays "50-Friday" for the rest of the year. So I've got 47 days where I am going to try to commit to shoot with nothing but a 50mm prime. I suspect that a couple days in the year will wreak havoc with this, so I figure if I get 40 of 47 I will be OK.

They all look great but I love this one. Fisheye lens shots either look GREAT or yikes. This one hit the GREAT

Thanks, Don. Let's just say that there was some significant tweaking in the lens correction module. Maybe "significant" is too much, but with buildings it's tough. This was an HDR that then got further tweaked. Here's the original perspective before I fixed parking lot and perspective issues to give you an idea of what you can do with perspective and distortion correction.

D62_3843_HDR.jpg

And here's the +/-0 EV photo from the HDR series with LR lens profile correction applied, which really straightens the lines of the Fisheye. I could have easily filled in the snow gap here with Smart Fill, but I liked the curves better.

D62_3843.jpg

You can easily argue that this might have been the best perspective, but hey, why carry a fisheye if you don't want it to look like a fisheye?!
