Day 34 - Splish, Splash! I was takin' a... picture.

Decided to try my hand at water droplet photos with a plastic cup in the sink. That way I could control the frequency of the drops and have a better chance at success! ;) I got a few that were fun after a bit of editing, but couldn't quite get the focus dialed in perfectly.

Day 35 - History

So... today's picture isn't the best, as it was taken late tonight after a VERY busy day, and all I had was the camera and the on-camera SB-700. I *WILL* snap another pic of this subject soon, but I'll need to work on impromptu lighting because of the inherent shadows all the angles and cutouts create.

1st the pic, then the story:

Day35.jpg

I present an Imperial Glass Caramel Slag Lion Covered Candy Dish. It's a beautiful dish, and collectible, but it's in my home after proving itself to be sturdy enough to have survived one of the most carefree kids in the universe: me. You see, my grandparents used to fill this dish with quarters and miniature candy bars. Whenever I wanted, I could run in and scoop out a handful of mini-snickers or mini-milky ways and run right back out again, or on the special days I got to ride my bike into the small town of Sulphur, OK to play Donkey Kong or some other attention grabber at the corner convenience store, I could grab a handful of quarters as well.

The lion guarded a treasure, keeping it safe until such time as I needed access! Many times, the lid was placed carefully back into place, but even more times, it was not... and still it is whole and beautiful, full of memories worth far more than any amount of quarters in the world. Of course, when my grandparents passed, and mom asked if I wanted this dish, I without hesitation said YES! Now it stores silver dollars (as I come across them), spare keys and important receipts. Every time I look at it, a smile crosses my face as I remember a young towheaded boy raiding the dish for a quick blast of energy before venturing back out into the wilderness of Murray County...

Sometimes, it's nice to get lost in memories for a bit, yes? I've always thought so.

Day 36 - The EYES have it

Another long day. Another stressful day. Another COLD day.

10 degrees Fahrenheit, with a wind chill of -6. (for you metric folks, that's that's -12 Celsius, with a wind chill of -21) After a long day of work, where it feels like we're fighting twice as hard as normal for half the results, the walk to the car is a killer. I have NOT been taking my camera out of the house, and the work days have been leaving my mind dull and unimaginative, so tonight I was just gonna do a remote cable selfie. I didn't like how they were coming out though, so I started to dabble, and here are the 3 shots I ended up with for the day. All were shot with the kit lens (18-55 VR) as it's the one with the shortest focal distance. My conclusion? Eyes are cool! (and a bit creepy all zoomed in, but in a cool kinda creepy way) All are of my left eye, as my right eye didn't seem to want to open as wide tonight. LOL

I like this one. What I did with mine was strip the color from the face but leave the color in the candle to give it that more ghostly look. Slightly tip the face forward, slightly, to catch the eyes a bit more.

Observation, your picture face is very evident to me on a PC. However, as you said, you edited on an Apple product. I believe the Apple products more accurately depict what will show up on a print. I know that my image that shows fine for most of us PC people is too dark for print and would need to be lightened.

Day 37 - Forbidden Love

It's still SO DURN COLD that I absolutely do not want to get out of the house to shoot. In fact, today, we set a new record for the lowest HIGH temperature ever recorded for our area... so inside I stayed.

WARNING: Bored minds do tend to wander, so I apologize in advance for this twist on a love trist. Some photos may be suggestive, so make sure young eyes are properly diverted. IN FACT:

The scenes you are about to see may be an as"salt" on the senses. If you proceed from here, you're on your own.

Day37-1.jpg

It all started out in a typical way. Just a bunch of friends "forking" around...

Day37-2.jpg

...when suddenly, he spotted her, AND her curves.

Day37-3.jpg

Of course, his friends noticed, so they gathered around and told him it couldn't be. A spoon would just stir up trouble...

Day37-4.jpg

...but he didn't care, and soon, they were inseparable.

Day37-5.jpg

It wasn't all that long until she had him doing crazy things, like "spooning"...

Day37-6.jpg

...and of course, that quickly led to the both of them "peeling" off all of their...

Day37-7.jpg

WHOA! WAIT A MINUTE! Even I won't open that can of worms!!

Day37-8.jpg

Let's just say that they quickly found a need to build a love nest.

Day37-9.jpg

In the end, though, they and their beautiful children lived happily ever after.

Day37-10.jpg

DARNIT! I forgot to add in the vampire element to ensure this love story would make me millions!!!

Oh well, I'll throw it out there now, and you can tell me if I should re-write the whole tale. I think I'll call it Igniting the "Sporks" of Love!

Day37-Bonus.jpg

The moral of the story? When love "bites", everything changes.
