Thanks Don but you have no reason to be jealous. We have all seen your work as well and it is great. I was just lucky enough to have time to stop at that lake that morning and have the heron cooperate. OK maybe some others might not have gotten that shot but I bet you would have.

Thanks Don. Glad he was chilly and just kinda sat there for awhile.
I submitted it on their Facebook. It goes into their recent post feed which they then select from for their page. I have done this on numerous other occasions but this is the first time they shared one of them.

I can just see their feet frozen in the ice. Starving and freezing to death.
Believe it or not they were all mobile. Shortly after this many of them took off, most likely to a local corn fired to feed. I think they feel more secure sleeping in the middle of the lake instead of a field. More predators there.
Stuck at 91. With all the cold and snow not much is moving. Took a walk in the woods the other day for about 20 minutes and did not even hear a bird. Hopefully this spring I will catch a few more migrating north. I found a new place (tip from another photographer) about 30 minutes from home where some additional species are rumored to hang out in the spring.
