I've been looking around trying to find a decent all-in-one lenses that has close up and good zoom. And I wanted macro ability. My son has a 55-300mm Sigma with Macro and really likes the built in macro. So I bought this.
Tamron 18-200mm f/3.5-6.3 XR DI-II B.I.M. (Built-in Motor) LD Aspherical (IF) AF Zoom Lens with Macro, for Nikon Digital SLR Cameras. The wife is going to shoot me!

A Raynox DCR-250 will make it a better macro ;-)

For a mere $55 shipped. Excellent tripod just as I read it to be.




This thing for a mere $5 at one local store's bargain bin. Might just go back sometime to dig some more, perhaps for a friend or to adapt something since I love my MF stuff.

Well, the lowepro slingshot is going back. Too small. So, I ordered the Sling shot 301. I should have payed attention to the size. My camera wouldn't fit with the lenses I'm going to keep on it.

Yesterday was a little sad as my D300s plus my wife's D300 and 70-300VR went off to be exchanged for cash :miserable: We'd hung onto them as backups when we got the D800 and D7100, but in reality the new cameras just did everything better, except perhaps the FPS and buffer which doesn't affect our shooting.

Last weekend I made the mistake :eek: of lending my good lady my 70-200 2.8 VRII and TC-20e III on a visit to the zoo. I'd wanted her to try this lens for a while as I thought she would be pleasantly surprised at the way this sort of lens performs versus her 18-200 and 70-300. There is nothing wrong with those lenses it's just that this one offers a different level of performance. As you can see from the picture she liked the result as the new 70-200 arrived today, along with a 7100 for our backup camera. In the UK the 70-200 is currently on a £160 cashback deal and the D7100 on a £100 cashback. The 7100 will also be my go to camera when I want the extra crop factor/resolution such as wildlife or macro. At least all of our camera bodies will now be used rather than two sitting on the shelf.

My new Tamron AF18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 lenses. I'm very pleased with this lenses. I read reviews where some folks were saying it was slow at focusing. I have not seen this. I've only taken a few pictures with it. But so far I'm happy with them. This will certainly be my primary lenses for now.
